Friday Night and it's Alright...

Well I took my beloved friend & work mate Susan out on Friday night, stop right there I know what some of you people are thinking :P..
It was her birthday tuesday and well we went for a chinese then went bowling me paying for both naturally..
What can I say about the chinese apart from it was great, prawn toast or as they called it sesemed prawns on toast - little bit of lemon on it, heaven :D. I followed this with Kong Po Chicken which is looked nice, I knew it would have a little kick but after a while the sauce got to me not because of the kick but the sweetness of it, I believe it tried to be sweet n sour with a twist but hmm didn't work out. Susan well she had king prawn with cashew nuts - perfect it was as well, muched a prawn - well she tried the Kong Po, we shared a dish of fried rice which was enough... I had had a long week and after the meal just felt like 40 winks but I thought that impolite, and besides the bowling was booked :D
So we went bowling, good enough place and busy to boot but hmm they could do with a little tech update, Im kinda spoiled as I got a very good bowling place with full touch screen technology and per player bumper settings (well I play against nephew) so having to go back to what looked to me arcanic was interesting. I will say is the Screens could do with being replace and the consoles as well to make it easier.
Oh and a few newer bowling balls as well they looked a little war worn - damn im spoiled ain't I. It was a good night and well much fun was had and overall and I've no Idea why or how I lost 2-1 and lost overall by something like 2 points, too many gutterballs I guess - I saw a few adults "cheating" as in they had the bumpers up (they are up or down for all)..
We did consider winding her parents up but thought better of it :P

Blog Fodder - "Give an example of a meal that makes you happy."

Hmm an interesting topic this week for Mar at Maremagnum. Well here goes it's a tricky one - well not really..

I think it's not the actual food that's there it's the company too.
So I mean I could say my own recipe pasta carbonara makes me happy and it does, reminds me of good times at uni (although I don't wanna remember some of the crap there), reminds me of a certain valentine's day with my now ex...
I like a good meal out, had a nice chinese last friday but I think I'll make a proper post about that now that I think about it. I had the sesemed prawns on toast as they called it followed by Kong Po Chicken with a side oreder of fried rice :D delicious.
Another one is well indian in origin, onion bajhi to start with and a nice chicken tikka masala or something not to firey anyways..

I think Im done now, see give me good food and your pretty well garenteed to have a happy Gopher :D

On a sidenote no idea how but well sometimes mother who is a good cook honest, serves me something and I wonder do I eat this or resole my shoes with it...

I sit by my PC, put some music on or a DVD and just switch off totaly either that or I go out on a long walk if I don't think that's gonna work..

I think that's about all I can say really.

How to Piss me Off!

Well it's kinda easy if you know how but I digress a little perhaps.
As you all know I play "World of Warcraft". Now if you don't play it don't think about taking this game up it's subscription only and can be addictive.
In saying that I normally enjoy it, with the occational "OMFG" (Oh My Freaking God) why did someone just do that etc..
Now all was fine and well with my 2nd char on this realm (Europe - Boulderfist) in with a load of mates (2nd char in the Guild and 2nd time around).
My first char on there was kicked out the guild cos one night I went what can only be described as "Totally EMO!" that's like going POstal but with an Emotional core and i was booted out of guild and the GM Ignored me to boot :| well someone MOFO was pissing me off - member from an Old Guild I was in on another realm they became GM of the guild and well they freaking RUINED the guild, forced everyone into a merge I went I'd rather slit my wrists or similar (yeah I was that passionate about The Guild). That char is long gone - everything sold off and all the gold I made sent to a fellow player and the player deleted - was lvl 59 I think (on the grind to last level at the time 60).
I hopped realms moved a char from one to another and started afresh on Boulerfist with my primary passion an Orc Rogue which was what my 1st ever char was. I then got the expasion and created my 1st new Race char and 1st Priest (Blood Elf Priest) and was happily leveling with a few mates who'd gotten the expansion as well and were bored with their current characters in the guild, they then join up as mate was sick of getting whispers to get on his then main or an alt in the guild to talk about something I rejoined the guild and well all was fine until about oh 2pm (GMT) today when I was kicked from the guild - no warning, no friendly "hey mate - problem here" type whisper just BOOTED :|.. Some people weren't happy with my "attitude" in guild chat - no names mentioned and I don't really care either. What really PISSED me ROYALY off was the fact the faceless fecks didn't have the BALLS to say it to my face either in a party or in guild chat or even as a whisper. So Im all guildless again, just gave all my gems that I had to my mate (the GM who kicked me) Im gonna have to keep playing as well it's still fun (only just).
Oh and well hmm I won't be joining any guild for well lets see till thursday afternoon at the earlist (around about 4 days) which is the same cool down as making Mooncloth as a tailor..

Wow is it almost March Already!

Has anyone seen the last two monthes or know where the HECK they went?
I sure as heck don't on saturday it's the 1st birthday of the year (well for me) - my "dearest" nephew connor will be 9, how he got this far I wouldn't even ask for I don't know the answer to that one, Im only the little monkey's uncle.
March is a mad month for me why I hear you ask, I sure I posted something like this last year but that would mean actually looking through the archieves and this poor lil bunny is tired. Like I was saying before i rambled off in another direction, oh yeah, march and birthdays I have 4 members of my immediate family (including the nephew there) and 3 friends, 2 of which are on the same day, and one of them you all know and love dear reader, she knows who I mean, Im not saying who either :D
My nephew got a brand-new Nintendo DS + 10 games (a few are full DS games) for a very nice price from e-bay so he's asked a for a few Games for it.
I mean it's not like he doesn't have enough to do with Cubs, Karate, Football, Homework, etc and his PS 2, Gameboy Advanced & the PC he got for christmas.
Spoilt never he's earned EVERY item :)

Oh and don't you just HATE it when you manage to bite you tounge and not realise it till a while after and of course it's rather difficult to put anything on it isn't it.

That is All.

Blog Fodder - "What do you see when you look out of your living room / kitchen / bedroom window?....."

I know go on tell me I need to post more, don't ask why I don't just be thankful I post, unlike some people I can think of, but I do know they lead lives far more hectic than mine so I can let them off just this once. Now on to the topic for this week from what looks like a fellow brit (cheers) Le Laquet.
What do you see when you look out of your living room / kitchen / bedroom window? You can do this with photos if you would like.

What do I see when I look out the window nearest me well the back garden and the lane behind my house and open fields and trees, there are some winter pics on here some place which right now I can't be bothered to go find the post in question to link to so Im afraid it's a hunt of the archieves - Feb / March 06 I think..
From my front of my house I see the local hill and it's a nice hill takes a little bit to climb up it but the view from the near enough the top is worth it trust me.
I think that will do.

Blog Fodder - "Which is worse? Poor manners or poor grammar? Why?"

This weeks topic brought to you by "Suzanne", it is an interesting topic I must say.
Which is worse? Poor manners or poor grammar? Why?

I'd have to say poor manners as normally this is vocal or visual and is instant for example someone bumping into you and not saying sorry and the like, not on at all in my book. In saying that I was brought up to be polite, trust me I had no option, I do love my dear darling sister as she did drag me up by the shoelaces although not literally.
Poor grammar well it all really depends on how bad it is and in what context the piece of writing is for.
I know I probably sometimes don't make gramattical sense sometimes but I do try and contruct sentence correctly, spell things correctly and so forth. I do probably over use certain punctuation marks, well I mean sometimes you just have to!!!!!!!!!!!!
See what I mean but if it's any type of formal letter IF it were to land on my desk at work, rare as I really don't get mail at work, or I'm shown a letter addressed to say the boss and read it and If they were looking for a job I don't know if I'd hire 'em or not, mind you I've seen some very professional looking CV's but "fresh coat of paint to hide the cracks" anyone.
I'd say both are equally worse but Poor manners just tips it as I do HATE people with bad / poor manners after all it takes nothing to be polite does it now.

That is all..

Blog Fodder - "If you could go back in time and choose your career, what would it be?"

Well quite an interesting question this week from Heather. Mind you heather sometimes does write thought provoking entries, now on to the question.
If you could go back in time and choose your career, what would it be?

This be a tough one for me as well I honestly don't know what it would be. I'd probably go back and smack myself around the head a few times but then again IF I did that I probably wouldn't be "here" and thus would probably not have the wonderous array of "friends" I have now. I use the quotes as most if not all who have read this blog I've never met in person and well e-mail ain't the same, okay phone calls are different I will give you that it does allow you to connect on a more personal level, as it adds a depth and colour (color) that are kinda hard to convey in a e-mail even if you use italics or bold text and colored text or all 3 however this doesn't answer the initial question does it.
What would I choose to be....
I am the geek type - I love computers have done for many years so I'd probably have taken that career path, maybe gotten my head around programming or something. I do love problem solving so may have ended up in some R&D department or as Tech support (the real kind not the "Tech Support" some provide can we say "script driven","in the box" and "blinkered" yes we can).

I probably be boring as well, well maybe. Who knows? Where I am I'm happy enough honest. I think it's due to the fact I've sat on my rear end and did just enough that's why Im the way I am, path of least resistance..

So to sign this post off, Career change probably software design or something like that but in truth not really how else would I have met.
Moogie then Sharon, Melonie, Wahwer...., Heather and the myriad of other people I know through blogger and "Computers Lobby:1" from the Chat at "Yahoo.com" and my friends who have actually met me in real life (poor them).

That is All...
More Next Time, Same Place, Same Nutcase.

Dating Anyone?

Okay that's a pretty what's the word, I had in my head but a moment ago, got it, what a fairly unambiguous post title / question.
Now for those well versed in the blog that is this one you will know or perhaps not that well Im just not that lucky, for those that are new to here, have a quick dive through the archives - here is the most current ref there are other earlier ones..
I just don't have the luck when it comes to asking girls out, I ask I get blown off.
The ONE and ONLY girlfriend in the proper sense of the word ask me out - well not so much asked as confessed in a letter that she loved me.. after telling her "good" friend and her good friend blabbing to her boyfriend in a call I was able to overhear the friend saying that she was stupid.. Long story - 3yrs some good times and then 1 big screw up on my part that I never fixed.. End of.
I think I'll just stick to be a "male friend" to any girl I get to know / know currently safer on all counts.
My good friend and colleague has joined her local dating agency - a brave move one which of course has seen her riddiculed by the boss, me I just said good luck :), I am going to tell her soon she's brave, braver than me. I tried that but hmm as normal it came out wrong but I was able to make a good enough recovery.
Now to the whole point of this post well it's mentioned above and in all honesty who the hell would wanna go out with a pain in the neck guy, who all he does is gets up for work, comes home and sits on his pc and sleeps, rarely goes anywhere, rarely phones what little friends he has and generally can't be BOTHERED with anything and takes the easy way out if at all possible or the path of least resistance.
Hmm yup sums me up real nice that does.
And NO this isn't a Dating AD / post / whatever it's the truth.

Blog Fodder - "Name a sensory input(s) which trigger a mood change..."

Hmm I said I would post on this topic, tricky one but a good one from
Rob, over at My Bloddy Great Nutshell.
So he poses the question.
"Name a sensory input(s) which trigger a mood change be it uplifting, depressing, poignancy or remind you of a past event or period in time. Examples - the smell of an aftershave or perfume, a song, a baby crying, the sound of a vegas slot machine, the feel of clean sheets, the taste of a childhood drink."

A good question, a tricky one I've been thinking on and off about this one all week I mean what music Im listening to does tend to modify slightly the kinda mood im in.
Silence is great as well, just listening to nature brings back walks I had many years ago that hmm I don't do now, im still me just a little bit quieter, a little more hidden, although people that know me will claim that's not true, personal armor sorts that out.
There are a few songs and the smell of one particular brand of aftershave that invoke memories of happier times with my now ex-girlfriend. I wear my heart on my sleeve or so someone told me that and I was once told I should be a care worker or something - IM not that hard..
Time to go find Pachabel's Canon in D and relax it's been an interesting week.
Question answered hmm maybe but it's random just like me.

Logic defying Bowling

Okay this one has me scratching my head.
I was looking after the nephew again on Saturday and we went bowling again as well it's a little wind and still a little cold to play football outside that and the fact he's really good at something, Im sure those with little "devils angels" know what I mean...
Okay 3 games for the both of us last Saturday: £ 14.40 not bad really now this is what confused me.
3 games 2 weeks ago, approx same time £ 17.80 or something like that can't find the reciept right now but it will be somewhere - now thing was Im sure I was charged more for my nephews games than I was mine anyone care to explain?

Oh will post on Blog Fodder Topic later in the week.

Oh and as a postscript to the last post - Im not really a "Tom Cruise" fan nor a fan of what is the call it "Scientology" nor a fan of "Kabbalah" both IMHO are a load of phooey, i mean sure you pay a little at church to keep the place going and pay for the minister but hmm that would be like asking you or add to put $1,000 in the collection plate instead of a $1 if you see what I mean.

A Film Review: War of The Worlds

Okay good leading actor in Tom Cruise, good leading actress in Dakota Fanning as his daughter actually her lines were delivered way better ;).
Now I know that some american are classed as "dumb" but classing everyone in the world as dumb enough not realise that hmm oh let's just pave over that, there ain't nothing there or what ever is 100% too far fetched to start with, the lightning - way over kill. Mind you what did I expect it's a "hollywood remake of a classic" which has totally ruined the film, a remake that just about make it is "The Italian Job" it's at least got some class and credability to it.
Back to the current - Im sorry in the original they didn't suck us dry and spread weird vines all over the place. they didn't "walk" about they floated around and it was a heat ray not a "vapourising humans to dust" ray. Oh and another thing when the "tom" was busy hacking the eye to bits he could have at least cut it off like in the original! God damn hollywood can't even get that right.
So all in all a 100% over the top piece of cruddy remake, only thing that made it shine slightly was Dakota, she is one talentled lil lady.
I think were done here.

Blog Fodder - "How does one handle work, home and family (or a combination thereof) without having a nervous breakdown?"

Hmm this topic brought to us by my delightful and camera shy friend Melonie, oh Laura you can tell her I said that :P.

"How does one handle work, home and family (or a combination thereof) without having a nervous breakdown?"
Im probably the least qualified to answer this as well family - nephew, sisters, parents, "home" hmm let's not go there, work .
How do I handle all this without going into meltdown, truth is I don't sometimes I just go "off on one" - let rip, blow of some steam.
My life consists of the following: Monday - Friday: Up at 6:30, out the door at 7, get to work around 7:45, work till around 4, sometimes longer if required, get home around 4:30-5 or later depending on what I've got to do after work.
Saturday / Sunday - I just wanna do nothing, truth be told I just Can't Be Arsed(CBA) doing anything after work / at the weekends.
Nephew some how drag some life and energy out of me when he sees me.
Im going to lay out this logic to show you what I do and I will explain it a little.
If (!at work && !seeing nephew && !out someplace) then location=at pc.
so there we have it, I have no life, only work, my nephew and the occational escape, you can normally of an evening find me sitting at my pc doing something.
I don't do the "social" thing unless I have to, I like to breathe, Moogie, anyone any tips on how to stop someone who's been smoking for > 50 yrs. Let's just say Me on a bad day x 3 and that's my dear father on a good day!
Nervous Breakdown, I doubt I'd know one if it hit me in the face to be honest.
I just get on with it as I've been doing for long enough.
Like I said I do blow off steam sometimes. I did this in what can only describe as a spectacular manner on saturday.
Now as many people know I play "world of warcraft" aka "WoW" now there is an expansion out for it, that went live last tuesday at midnight, 2 new races, a whole new area to go to, new quests, you can now get to lvl 70 instead of 60, etc.
Now I don't have this expansion - don't see the point, current char is a lvl 40 odd rogue. I however was seeing "new race" players with levels higher than me, so to cut a long story short, I basically went and said "there are people who are higher level than me, it only went live on tuesday they are 'NO LIFERS'" and then went on a rant as someone else just ticked me off. For my wonderous effort I got "booted" out the guild by my now former friend, who I've played various different computer games with for a good few years, and to top it all those who had the expansion were getting all the help they needed, I asked and never really got a response! Oh and my former friend and the my Former Guild master now has me on ignore. I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO FINISH what I was saying!!!! So Im having a night off tonight, although my new guildmates might wonder where i am.
Im off to watch the crap Hollywood remake of "War of The Worlds" + some other stuff

Blog Fodder - "Which is more important, intelligence or common sense?"

Hmm Blog Fodder Topic number 7 - quite an interesting one this.
So which is more important, intelligence or common sense?
Im am going to sit on the fence on this one and say you need a mixture of both, some situations call for common sense others for a fair whack of the old bit High IQ.
My mother does say I do lack in common sense but I'd totally disagree with her and say no more on this one..
Im trying to give a good example of a possible situation where common sense would be used over intelligence and vice versa but for the life of me I can't think of one.
I tend to go for the "IQ" solution thus appear to not show much common sense, thus we get this wonderful phrase "if your brains were dynamite you wouldn't have enough to blow your nose...." and also "if you had a brain you'd be dangerous" but I think those phrases are a possible discussion for another day / for someone else to debate (HINT to someone else!).
hmm just thought of a probably example for use of common sense...
"delightful child" : Mom the TV don't work.........
"Mom" : Have you tried pressing the buttons on the front of it?
"child" : Erm no but how would that make a difference it's not working...
"Mom" : try them you might get a surprise..
"child" (after pressing the right button) : Wow, it works but that means Im gonna have to walk to the TV to change channel now (WHINE MODE on!)
"mom" : well it's what I thought, give me the remote and I'll change the batteries in it.
"child" : OH! it needs batteries to work (after having removed them for something else)...
Hmm trying now to think of a IQ example but brain now refusing to work.
I've always been good a working logic out so i probably couldn't give you a good IQ answer as it would be me working it out logically ^ see above it's kinda logically laid out.
IQ answer would probably be those "diagnostical" diagrams you see for somethings,
you know the ones that have a box marked "START HERE" and wind you through various options to establish the fault - now you know how I work things out, but that's off topic so I think I'll leave it there..

MY Answer: I'd say a bit of both is required and each is as important as the other.

How well do people really know me..

This is a shameless re-write of a post by Heather.
I've been thinking about this one, how well do people really know me and this includes my family. I think there are very few people out there who really know me, most of them are in the UK, with a small number of people scattered around the globe that know me in varying degrees. I mean if I think about it I know people or Im related to to people from all corners of the globe. Now to the crux of this post or rather the question.
The question is: "How would YOU finish this sentence: If you really knew me, you would know…."
Now I'm not exactly sure how anyone would answer this as I'm terribly slack with the e-mail I do get around to sending e-mails out, and replying to ones sent to me some get answered quicker than others but it's not by virtue of who sent it, it's often what the e-mail is about. Feel free to puruse the archieves if you wish, to perhaps get an better insight to me. Leave a comment if you wish I suppose it's just me asking you to tell me what you think of me, I'm not being vain or anything like that. Oh and you don't need to "fudge" the answer in order to spare my feelings, I can take it...

Recommendation Perhaps...

It's 2 in the morning and posting on here, oh boy...
If you can find this on the radio or download I dare you to listen to "Mika - Grace Kelly" and tell me it's not one of those songs that sounds like it should annoy you like heck but you can't get out of your head because it's SO, SO darn well UP Beat...

At Last!

At last I've got it to work, what work I hear you ask...
Well the thing that's been bugging me for while ever since I put the themes script in, I could get it to work locally but the second I put it on the web it fell over and flat refused to work with Firefox so I put a work around till I got around to fixing it, it worked perfectly well in IE (the EVIL web browser from MS), which in it's IE 6 carnation suffered 284 days worth of buggage with 93 days worth of no fixs for them, where as Firefox suffered only 9 such days, even 9 is a lot of time, The Story From El Reg!.
Now that aside what I got working you may not even notice if your just running the default "The Blues" theme, there are others I now just need to maybe tweak the color schemes a little to get them to look nicer...
Oh and I've thought of an idea well a play on an existing idea, it goes a bit like....
"Hi There, Gopher sent me but blame michelle..." you can see what Im getting at that's right it's a total rip off from Michelle's Infamous Blog, see the link on the left hand side to go there...

Blog Fodder - "What is your most memorable meal? Why?"

Welcome to blog topic number 6 and the topic this time is "What is your most memorable meal? Why?"
Hmm this is a tricky one for some unknown reason it's not that there are that actually "memorable" meals, it's the simple fact that right now I can not think of a single meal I've had in recent or distant history that I'd class as memorable, honestly..
I mean it's not like I get invited to dinner parties a lot, I don't never been invited to one yet, I don't have girlfriend at the moment so that that line out the window, and by the time I get home from work I rarely feel like cooking, actually come to think of it I rarely feel like cooking period, I only do it when I have to, I suppose like many things in life, well actually I don't have a life, I have "work", i have "sleep", I "game" to relax a little, I do go see the odd film now and then, I do have a large DVD collection and I do have a nephew to dote on.. That is all I have, so you can see that "memorable" is kind of a mute point here. That is all.

Blog Fodder - "Tell us something about someone...."

I know this is Blog Fodder #5 but I've been kinda busy with work and other stuff and totally forgot to like post for parts of the week and I did kinda promise that I might post..
So here goes
" Tell us something about your in-laws (funny, memories, etc.). If you don’t have any in-laws, pick a relative like siblings, parents, etc."

Im going to talk about as always my nephew, now i know he can be a total pain in the BUTT sometimes, I do mean that btw. I mean christmas day was a day his parents got off from having him say come play every 5 minutes... I had to go play his mew playstation games with him and stuff it was all fun but I needed 5 minutes to like BREATHE!
it was fun though.
Gosh it does seem like yesterday that I was holding the small bundle of joy that was realativly quiet to the bundle of joy that still loves his hugs and stuff.
He does love his football as well, doesn't mind being in goal but when he lets 1 or 2 in has been known to spectacularly lose it...
Now when i say lose it, i do mean pretty much full blown temper tantrum which isn't pretty to watch, calming him down is tricky at best as you can imagine but once he's calmed down he's okay and when he's up as striker he like to get the ball and try and score goals which he can do. On the subject of tackling say no more I have had the bruised shins to prove it, he goes in hard but as goes for the ball as much as possible if the player happens to get in the way its too bad, he has been "put off" for it once.. After the match is quiet funny too depending on how it went, he'll whine a little or a lot depends on how it's went, it will go along the lines of "If x had passed to me I could have scored Uncle Gordon and y didn't tackle he just stood their and they scored because of it". It's funny I do try not to a laugh as he takes it SO seriously I can see him being a team captain some day. If I've taken him to football we normally end up at the nearest McDonalds, he likes "chips" ("French" /"Freedom" Fries for you americans) and sometimes chicken nuggets, it's hard getting him to actually decide what he wants so I just say to him to tell them what he wants, they just shake their heads understanding what he wasts, small drink to go as well, oh and Tomato Ketchup - the proper stuff, you know the "Heinz" Tomato Ketchup :D
It normally ends up he has his chips and half of mine, since I polish off the big mac and some chips and that does me..
I know exactly where is temper comes from as well, his mum, my dearest sister as well hmm I used to be that bad... I've calmed down a lot since then...
HONEST! :P

Now what did I get I hear you inquire, politely of course..
What did I get actually, kinda a blur and NO there was No alchol involved well none drunk anyway.. I have to my name now, 2 litre bottles of Baillies Irish Cream :D, 2 litres of Premix'd Bacardi Breezer - hmm I'll enjoy too, 1 litre each of orange n watermelon. I got a litre for simply putting some songs on an mp3 player for someone's christmas, the other litre is from work. The Bacardi + 2 bars of toblerone, I got from my friend susan (should hint at her that well my ex used to give me that every year ;) ). Every practical are my 2 sisters, the oldest one game me a 2 handed car polisher and Mission Impossible 3, the other one much nicer present :D - A Cappachino coffee set and a t-shirt, I also got a tall latte cup set from my dear nephew along with some after 8 mints :D..
From my boss n his wife I got a winter car car kit and from my other colleague at work (aka the boss's son), his girlfriend I got your standard sports shower kit.
From mom n dad I got well a new pair of trainers, a new dolphin n whale calander, some shampoo n conditioner (well I gotta keep the hair in shape) and the latest Sue Grafton book "S is for Silence" which I look forward to reading..
That's about it. I had a realitly quiet christmas day, punctuated by requests from newphew to go play some new game on his PS2, what I get for agreeing to have dinner there..
Oh work was quiet and peaceful :)..

Darn It I've just been tagged!

I have just been tagged by Tina (Junebugg you got a lot to answer for :P)! It didn't hurt. The cold / flu / whatever I got is annoying but it don't hurt that much either
Ok this is how it works. The player (me) must list 3 things that I would love to get for Christmas. Then I must list 3 things that I definitely do not want to get for Christmas. Then I tag 5 friends and list their names. The one I tag needs to write on their blogs about their Christmas wishes then tag 5 more people. They must also clarify all the rules. When you tag someone you need to leave a comment that says "you've been Christmas tagged!" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

My Christmas Wishes:

1. For my friends to be happy over christmas time
2. The the "Politically Correct" Idiots that are ruining things because "it might offend!" to get lost somewhere..
3. Size "0" to come with a HEALTH WARNING!

My Christmas Don't Wants

1. No more junky crap credit card forms, waste of a good tree
2. No More SPAM E-Mail! I get enough thanks 10,928 reported pieces of spam so far..
3. Something that is of absolutly no use to me - covers a lot that does..

Blog Fodder - "What is the best practical joke you have ever participated in, or one that was done on you?"

Hmm this is a very interesting one for me as well you'd think funny type guy like me would have played many a jolly jap but not really..
There is only one and I only set it up, I wan't part of the execution..
Im sure Universities through out the world have a "charities" week where various people raise money for univerisity nominated charities.. This was a rather good one as it turned out but not obviously on the person played.
There was one group who you paid to go arond and give people a "Gorilla-o-gram", thing was we had a very boring, and I mean "yawn" boring lecturer that well hmm I think we all secretly wanted to "get", I paid the sum of money required and told them who I wanted to be politly told "No way, he'd had one done on him the previous year and didn't take too kindly to it", so into my head pops the name of my best mate "stu", who somehow is still my best mate even although he's now living it up in Norway.
The lecture cometh, Im sitting "nearby" and in comes Mr Gorilla-o-gram, looking for stu, who he promptly spots and then proceeds to feed bananas to, well what you expect. The look said it all, he weren't impressed and I was doing the best I could to keep a straight face as Im sure were many others..
It turned out that hmm it wasn't such a good idea that day as he wasn't feeling 100%.
Now your wondering was there a revenage-o-gram done, no just a nice thick Archlever to the head from a great height, given stu is like 6'4" and he was standing on a small brick wall, about a 5' drop, next to one of the lecture theaters as the doorway was like below the corridor level so there was a space for people to wait to get in, etc, and me being 5'2" you can imagine the impact, it'd didn't hurt either *thud!*
I think that's me done...

I'll be glad when it's all over....

I will be glad when dec 26th rolls around, it will mean it's all over for another year!
It's not that I don't like christmas I do, I love it up to a point, just the endless buying of presents and the wrapping of them and the wondering is this the right gift etc... Basically between work and thinking of / buying of presents, and other things I've not really had time to blog (apart from the Blog Fodder of course). I'm also hoping that the 7 people I sent christmas cards to got them okay, I know I sent them in enough time just wondering if Darkish Gold Envelopes and a thin(ish) black pen to write the address was a good idea! I saw that cards and went those are really nice, didn't think of the envelopes till after. Never mind there is always next year.
The time of this post is spot on, it is 1:30am, Sunday Morning, Im awake (well awake enough) so therefore I blog..
Things to do: Wrap presents TODAY!

Blog Fodder - "Do you have any memories of a childhood illness?"

Hmm I do, kinda have hazy memories of being ill as kid..
I had to be real ill to be able to stay off school..
I mean little cough or the cold, Off to school I had to go..
Only 2 times I can think of I was off school.
1 was when hmm I'd have to be 7-8 I got the chicken pox, Im sure those who have had that can remember it's not very nice. I felt crappy all the time, I did manage to get to snuggle up under a duvet on the couch, head on pillow next to nice warm fire most of the day, only moving when I had to..
The other time I'd be in high school and well I was an IDIOT, I got off the school bus, walked in front as I knew he wouldn't move, quickly checked both ways then ran, hmm poor guy had pulled out from behind the bus, real slowly (ain't the same school bus rules as you have in the US) he hit me, I went flying (which I don't remember) about oh 25 yrds.. basically from where the bus stop was on one side to where it was on the other.. I came round it hurt like freaking HELL!
I did get a nice trip in the Ambulence to the local hospital to check it out. It hurt too much - it wasn't broken just bruised - guess Im made of tough stuff.
I was off school for 2 weeks, hmm doing certain things for the 1st few days was interesting.. I was excused from PE (gym) class for a further month I think, one of the teachers was head of department and I had told him and he'd said no gym for a month (I think)other teacher gave me a punishment exercise for forgetting my kit - it was revoked quick enough and it didn't happen again..
Oh and I was more careful getting off the bus from then on..
Yeah I had a cruel mom that made me go to school even if I felt miserable - maybe a few days here and there when feeling sick but not many..

There all done now...

Blog Fodder - "Tell us about somebody who has changed your life, even if just a little bit."

Hmm well this is the Blog Fodder Topic this week.
After some careful thought, I'd have to say my two older sisters have changed my life for sure, I may not have always been nice to them but they knew it was just me being a typical little brother otherwise known as being a pain in the hiney. I suppose it's really the younger of the two that changed my life the most, she was the one I'd turned to for help and advice, not my parents for some reason which is buried deep in my psyche and in unlikely to become anymore forthcoming. Now I get asked for help, okay it's only help with the computer stuff but it's help.. I do have a few friends that have changed my life, there is a post I did recently about a time in my life I'd love to be able to forget, as for without the friends I had then, many of whom I staying semi-regular contact with I probably wouldn't be writting this entry. If I was to name one of them it would have to be Stu, who I got to know really well and we kinda saved each other, now he's moved to Norway with his wife of many years oh could I tell you a tale about those two but I won't. As I've gotten older I've gained new friends both through the internet itself and more recently this place i.e the blogsphere. I suppose even the creator of the "blog fodder" should be included in my list as well she did introduce me to so many other people on here.
I'll let someone read this and go red at the though ;)
I don't think I can really write anymore than that, I don't need to go into detail as well it's hard to pin-point most of the "change" stuff I suppose.

Blog Fodder - "What are some of your memorable experiences at school?"

Hmm well I thought on this and initially I couldn't think of any as well I was the quiet one, you know the type I mean. They sat in class go on with their work, had a few friends they hung about with but not much more at primary (junior) school. They didn't really take part in stuff and generally got picked semiantly last when their was a team picking event (they did generally give their all for the team though). On to high school (whatever the US equivlent is I don't know), much the same, maybe different friends, didn't go in for any of the school events etc, very quiet did the work required of them, just go on with it didn't mess about (often ending up a "teacher pet" or "class swot" tag :-S). You get the picture
Well there were a few now that I come to think of it although maybe not.
The First one, I do remember doing was the Royal Botanical Gardens in Glasgow and a victorian house museum the exact name escapes me given this was 20+ years ago are you surprised, got pictures and everything somewhere (of me and some classmates and the actually gardens). I won't say much more as well hmm as remember how your always told to go before ya leave, hey I couldn't I did try and well hmm I dont' think I need say any more Im erm erm never mind....
One of the few school trips I ever did, seriously there generally one arranged for 2 weeks away for like Primary 6-7 (10-11yr olds) but i never did go on it.
Another trip I do remember was one to another museum, this time down in the borders, absolutly lovely, I'd be oh 16 by this point, so say 6-7 years had passed since last trip and well I go up that day I did plan on wearing something that wasn't school uniform but I don't know I think I hit the auto pilot and well got stuck all day in the uniform, embarressing in another way but then we went to Fat Sam's Restruant in Edinburgh for a meal then back to the school that was fun for sure.. See 2 totally divergent one's
Hmm a third could be a letter that was written as part of a school project when I would have been 13, we each had to pick someone, or some organisation and write to them with a valid question. I know one person wrote to NASA about something and got a whole load of info back, so I hear you ask who did you write to and what was the question. I wrote to the Queen about her corgi's (for some reason - reason escapes me I think erm maybe It was slipped to me). i got a very nice letter back and given my mothers penchant for keeping some things I believe it's probably still around somewhere, it wasn't from the Queen personally but one of her Ladies in Waiting, quiet a nice letter about the fact it's not just corgi's but dorgi's (a daushound / corgi cross) she has as well (or had)..
Okay that's enough "experiences" I think.. Actually that's probably them all.

The names Bond, James Bond....

Oh my this film is funny, still got the action but funny. It's got that quirky british black humour in it in parts and just good old quirkyness else where, no Q, not gadgets as such but hmm it makes up for it.
Good night overall: Hit Pizza hut had a pepperioni Pizza with a twist on stuffed crust idea - very good, we were "stuffed" - lol. Got the cinema paid for tickets, got drinks n popcorn I may have been stuffed but there is always room for popcorn..
I can't say much more as well for a lot of the "humour" you need to have seen the film.

Time to get brain in gear....

Hmm it's that time of year again, it's close to that particular day well only X number of shopping days left till then, now I need to get started. I've got some figured out I don't do many thankfully but other I've got to figure out..
Im also going to see Casino Royale on friday with a friend okay I'm paying (given what happened last time when well I had a blonde moment and totally forgot - dang sometimes Im really freaking thick oh well)..
I really should e-mail some people, you know who you are and yes I am thinking of you guys even if I don't write / e-mail / phone ever other week.. I'd say day but that sounds way too "over the top".
So I'm here, just about work is keeping me occupied and well when not occupied by work I just wanna do nothing thus my lathargical approach to some things, feel free to browse my back catalogue of entries and maybe comment on them or even comment here about them (with references so it's easier for all ;) )

The Hierophant

I saw this on heathers and just had to try, I don't know why many of these I see and don't do something caused me to do this one.

You are The Hierophant

Divine Wisdom. Manifestation. Explanation. Teaching.

All things relating to education, patience, help from superiors. The Hierophant is often considered to be a Guardian Angel.

The Hierophant's purpose is to bring the spiritual down to Earth. Where the High Priestess between her two pillars deals with realms beyond this Earth, the Hierophant (or High Priest) deals with worldly problems. He is well suited to do this because he strives to create harmony and peace in the midst of a crisis. The Hierophant's only problem is that he can be stubborn and hidebound. At his best, he is wise and soothing, at his worst, he is an unbending traditionalist.

Friendship

I recieved this in an e-mail from a friend, I've past it on to many of you but I thought I'd repost it here as well it got me thinking:
One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd". I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as h e crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks", they really should get lives. He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!", there was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before now. I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends, he said yes.
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. Monday morning came! , and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday! "He just laughed and handed me half the books. Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.
When we were seniors, we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown , and I was going to Duke. I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem. He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
Kyle was valedictorian of our class. I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
He had to prepare a speech for graduation. I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak. Graduation day, I saw Kyle. He looked great. He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. He filled out and actually looked good in glasses. He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous. Today was one of those days. I could see that he was nervous about his speech. So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled, "Thanks," he said. As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began "Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends... I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. I am going to tell you a story."
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He had planned to kill himself over the weekend. He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile. "Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realize it's depth. Never underestimate the power of your actions.
With one small gesture you can change a person's life.
For better or for worse. God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others.
----
Now your wondering how does that relate to me or who ever this story is about.
Well it's me and I had moments of weakness, when I had thought it all out, looked into the black abyss that is death and wanted to just fall head long into it, oh for the sweet blessed release of death. I didn't of course why I had my friends, oh I had thought it all out, I was gonna get a gun, stand on the railing by the duck pond at the university pull the trigger and fall backwards in, death would have been assured will that and sometimes I'd maybe aquire a few pills just to make sure..
However every time I thought about it I stopped, something kept me alive my friend although they don't know it or I don't think they do, or at least for the most part they don't I kept that much to myself. Also my dog saved me she needed someone to run to, fall asleep ON and I do mean ON. Now your wondering why not say family here but well let's just say they didn't really fit in, only 1 person would have suffered but then again I had enough people who'd miss me so I knew I couldn't do it..
So to my friends then and to my friends here and now thank you. Life may get complex, and get me down but I know with sometimes just a word or a phrase or something things start to look brighter.

I am a Hazelnut tree

You Are A Hazelnut Tree

You're a charmer with a killer sense of humor.
You are very demanding, but you can also be very understanding.
No matter what, you always make a lasting impression - you're quite popular.
Passionate, you are an active fighter for social causes and politics.
In general, you are moody, honest, a perfectionist, and very sexual.

Hmm How true is that, thanks to Heather for the pointer :)
P.S. I love hazelnuts :)

It's someone's birthday Soon...

Hmm what can I say it's that time of year again almost, we Brits remember the attempt that was made in 1604 buy Guy Fawkes to blow up the House of Parlament with the current King and all the political types inside. It of course backfired they were caught and killed the charge Treason.. So we build fires and set of fireworks to celebrate the failed attempt.. However that is not what this post is about it's about the one person in my family that well I really do care about a lot, my dearest Sister.. It's her birthday Sunday, see I can never forget her birthday now can I.
Thank you to Sharon for the wonderous gift which I am now in the process of finishing wrapping.
Don't worry folks I have photos of the artwork in it's frame taken just before I wrapped I will post them soon. I doubt I'll be able to post the expression as well erm I'll probably forget my camera..

re: "emotionally fragile"

Hmm well i posted that the other day and I suppose I am,it's kinda hard to explain but I'll try to. I don't need anyone to beat me up I pretty well on my own. For example I've been beating myself about the head because I screwed up when I swapped hardware out a week past saturday and the Power Supply went or appeared to, having it checked over still. So i had to reinstall windows but i was cracking up at having to forced into reinstalled because the "smart" O/S that is XP can't handle massive hardware changes only little ones. Im not gonna fire up my Network Attached Storage(NAS) device im gonna get someone else to do that as it's doing my head in, it won't see the almost 500gb over the 2 Hard disks that are in it as drives...
I do sometimes wake up and wonder if it's worth it any more. I was all for quiting the net totally - I was gonna make one last parting post on here and then just leave..
I couldn't so I left it, someone said something that made me think and it then struck me today they were right. Who was that person well it was "shyandquiet" although she is neither.. I got the big hard assed mental slap I required. Thank you shy :)

Yours
Chemically imbalanced and other things

G

P.S. I wasn't gonna mention it but I got some artwork from this lady and it's great was going to be a birthday present but I don't know now, i don't know if I'll be able to find a frame to do it justice in time but I'll try if not it's 1 christmas gift for a sister in a million.. ** Hugs Sharon ** Thank you.

Monday, October 23, 2006

Hey y'all Im back

I've been quietly catching up on some peoples posts i still got catching up to do. Im doing okay.
Heather the last post i read of yours made me think real hard. What cna I say the best way to describe me is "Emotionally Fragile" Im serious, I may look dead tough and mean, I may look like I'm meaner than a junkyard dog to borrow a phrase a good friend of mine uses shy but that she isn't once she knows you :)..
I found out today that okay it's a big state but It's a small world I know 4 people in WV now, the 4th is my good friend Patrick aka Tmbr Wolf I've known him a good while and didn't know this till know and well I think I can safely say I've chatted with him for 5-6 yrs. Go visit and swing by shy's pages they'll both appreciate the visit. I won't say which county in WV he's in but it's in the south.
So dear friends who are few and far between I think I'll sign off now.
Take care and catch ya later.

I'm Alive......

I'm alive...
My Computer is back up and running, behaving now too.
I didn't have to replace much - just the Power Supply as it went dead on me. I've taken this opertunity to clear out all the old crap I had kicking about, in readyness for all the NEW crap that will no doubt be getting install via windows update..
I'm in the midst of re-install all my applications so It will be a while before Im fully back up to speed just thought I'd let you know..
I've too many apps to mention to reinstall which is why I was reluctant to have to do this.. 98 was so much easier to do this on, you lost nothing..

So I'll see you around..

Just not My day :(

Here I am it's like 2am Sunday morning and Im writing a blog post..
Now not the post I'd been musing about yesterday after I read something that may appear at a later date once I remember exact what it was, it's been a long week!
I am not however on my now PC, Im on my backup PC (god bless backups) Okay I have more than 1 PC but I have MY PC and 3 others, if you get my drift... Someone I know from Free-DC was kind enough while doing a "spring" clean to send me some of his older parts (IF only I'd know I'd never have gotten that new mobo / memory - but I can still use that :D). My car was due it's Annual Checkup (Read MOT for those in the UK) and well I figured a few minor points a bit of welding here and there but not quite just that, one of my front spring is going so it's booked in for next weekend to get sorted.. To go cheer myself up I go to a mates and see if he's in, and have a coffee or 4 :P I end up with a DVD writer, some blank DVD discs and a Virtually Silent PSU - which doth not fit in the case style I have :-S. I get back and proceed in an orderly fashion to shutdown my nice machine, take out the mainboard and replace it with one that had just been shipped to me complete with memory and CPU + HS/ Fan to match.. I boot it up windows XP goes "NO!" and reboots, I get the "safe mode options list" I choose one, it does the same and just sits at same place..
Time for XP Install CD... I get that out and try and get it up and running - alas nope I do manage to repair XP and try that no luck what so ever.. I think sod it replace it with old kit that I know worked with that Install of XP..
Well erm "no", "NO" and double "NO!", it boots up, coughs almost and reboots, I TRY to go back into windows CD at which point the machine switches OFF with out warning, no obvious reason why it shouldn't fire back up, no joy at all as you can probably imagine even although I know my stuff Im at the "mild PANIC" stage, thinking the worst - no life from system means either a) The CPU has expired (NO please don't let it be that not my faithful XP2600) or b) The Power Supply has gone , thankfully it was b) this is the point I discover that the new Silent PSU I got don't fit so I had to go borrow one from the same mate and I handed him the old one to see if he could repair it possibly. I get one it's a smaller capacity but it will do, I power up.. No Primary Hard Disc, the one with windows and all my applications and erm GAMES on.. I switch off, unplug a few things make sure it's bare minimum plugged in to get it running nope same thing.. The Drive hath died or ain't wanna play ball..
I've managed to get it "running" but well we'll see how long, copying as much as I can to other places, til i can get another drive to replace.
Wish me LUCK, I think I need some.

Anyone tell me what day it is?

I only ask as well im not really sure myself. Why may you ask well lets look at the facts:
Monday & yesterday I worked 4pm to midnight, today I worked 8am to 4pm now you do the math - 24hrs within the 48hour period (4pm to 4pm) I've been at work, go me..
To say I'm a little fuzzy would not entirely be too far off the mark.. I really Love covering other peoples shifts even if it is only so that my nice averaged out wage that was calculated on a week that is 2 1/2 more than Im doing now, you do the math it's not much but they company has to either a) recalc my average and rejig my pay cheque to match it or b) I do the extra hours to cover which I'd probably have to do anyway..
Roll on NEXT April when they are recalc'd - okay maybe less money but i won't be doing silly sh-tuff mind you I hope they won't need to recalc it down I may get a payrise depends on what work the company gets in as a whole...
The joy of it all...
Another thing is Im kinda glad I decided not to do the "autopilot" home trick as I'd proabably have had to pick bits of fox and rabbit out my bumper and other places (yuck!), oh I know my car has good brakes I was able to avoid both.. I was kinda wired so you can probably imagine the number of hours of sleep I got between approx 1am and 6:30am..
Roll on the weekend so I can get some rest, I hope!

Where do we go from here.....

Well the day I never thought I'd actually see has well happened...
Think back 2 1/2 years - I've posted about the "event" a few times but well the thing I never though would happen has indeed happened.
My parents got to see my nephew today, under a strict set of rules mind you which will be relaxed once my sister feels she can trust them again..
So any time they want to see connor is fine, as long as they 1) phone to make sure it's okay and 2) it's at her house until further notice. These rules are non-negotional..
Nephew didn't quite know what to do as well like last time they were all in same room was other sister's silver wedding anniversary and well it was like "not allowed".
I had an inkling this was happening when I got a call from my sister saying hang on I didn't mean to phone you, what's my other sisters number to which I said I don't know I'd need to check my phone which I was talking on at the time she went okay I'll just check mine.. I did think weird but I knew she'd been thinking about this and thought hang on why would hmm no and put it at back of mind.
Roll forward about 20-25 minutes other sister calls me saying parents might be a bit upset when I get home as they are getting to see nephew I went okay thanks for the warning..
Queue around 3:45 - sister calls me saying that all had went well, nephew was a bit strange, mother kept I don't know exactly how to describe it but "wringing her hands" I don't know how else to say that, dad kept giving sister strange looks.
Now both sisters in same room, my older sister is normally the quiet one was busy chatting away to cover the silence as mother didn't quite know what to say, a first not really..
My parents are downstairs at the moment "recovering". Who knows what will be next but OH boy are they in for a shook when he does eventually come down here and Im not in.... They won't be able to keep up...
I think that pretty much covers it can't think of anything else apart from hmm erm hmm interesting.....

Anyone see where the last week has gone?

Wow what a week I've had I know this is tuesday but between now and the last post it's been some week. Working hard at work which is good, what I don't like is when I find out I may as well have beaten my head off the proverbial brick wall as the bit of kit that's meant to work doesn't, gotta love it when people say oh well it's been back to the supplier 4 times and is still playing up! Thank god we had a unit on loan that we could put in place to get everything back up and running again until we get the other unit BACK from the supplier FULLY WORKING! I have been various other places as well just.
Now what can I say about saturday but erm can we go back to that one and START AGAIN!
Im not saying it was a particularly BAD day but having gotten up at 6:30 all week It would have been nice to get a longer lie in bed other than an extra Hour! I had my nephew to take to football and well I will only say this about it they lost 5 or was it 6 - 1 when the week before they won 3-0 they did play the match later than normal but that should have worked more in their favour it didn't of course my nephew started to lose it big time after they managed to put 3 past him and I couldn't go over and calm him down (see post about previous match darn ****ing asshat coach!) He calmed down in 2nd half but well erm half asleep is all I will say to most of the team. I looked forward to meeting up with my mate stu for a chinwag again, while he dropped of my new toy - Me got me some Network Storage now, think small box with Drives in it that attached to the network and thats it..
I then was informed did I remember I was helping pick up my other sister from the air port (and what time was the flight) I thought it was today but no SATURDAY! BANG went the plans I had of going to Racewall as well my father may as well wear shades at night, he'd probably see better!
Sunday was just crash and recover day so zippo got done.
Monday was a holiday at work so I was able to just pretty much relax, catch up on stuff, read the paper fully etc..
Today has been fun too, just HOPE when I go in tomorrow Morning that there are a few e-mails waiting for me with PRICES on them from companies I've asked to send me a QUOTE on stuff for if not me not gonna be a happy bunny!

... what was that ...

Hmm well I think that was my birthday going whizzing past...
Nice quiet day at the office it wasn't, it was a nice drive around the countryside trying to find places, with "vague" points of reference...
I can conclude that my bosses Motorola Razr is for want of a better word CRAP, he agrees but can't change the phone till decemeber (gotta love contract phones).
On another note, if you've tried e-mailing me on my "newer" address and it's bounced the old one is still active, but both should work - must be my stupid ISP bouncing it as an "unknown" sender to a known address or some such crap I guess it's time to get a domain and set it up.

Come on You Reds........

Well my nephew's under 9's team does play in red :>.
What can I say a solid 3-0 victory over a team who's coach well I've not met him (thank god) but he's a bit of an ass. I was meant to go and cheer him on but read previous post no way, tired slept till about noon (I know some people wish they could sleep till then) and I felt like crap - darn cold. So I went along today to swift kick the pc and other electronic equipment.. I got told the full game :D. Nephew in goal 1st half - saved everything, out in the 2nd half and his replacement in goals did the same. Connor did manage to score a goal even. A few moments of contravercy, the "coach" said something was a free kick on the edge of the box, when everyone else knew it was a penelty which the other stricker took and scored with. Now to let you in on the "asshat" coach's attitude: He didn't like when someone stood behind the goals to encourage the keeper (read give pointers also) so it was all on the sidelines, being "quieter" than normal, ya right as freaking IF, now I mean there are only 7 or 8 in the team so maybe 10 or 11 parents and others there - more noise than normal.. Other coach could say nothing :D Rep from Soccer 7's was there (they kind do the rules for these things). There was 1 nasty incident funnily enough involving nephew, they had gotten a free kick near our goals so all team was back, the "wall" was set up, so they could directly score, a few players far enough away from the wall to maybe score if they got the ball. Now back to the act, an act if carried out in a normal match would have seen the player red carded, the opposition captian elbowed (quite deliberatly from all descriptions) connor, who of course went down, now normally sister would have went over to make sure but because of the asshat, had to stay put. He was fine, the captain was hauled off in disgrace - ha ha and the free kick well they didn't score from it, don't think they got close :D All in all a good game and well it was a case of "total silence" from the asshat he couldn't say a word. What can I say 2nd game on the trot they've won, they won 4-2 last week against another team that had previously beaten them. The Last match is next week and Im gonna have to juggle that with other stuff happening next saturday namely a mate who I've not seen in a while coming up for one last visit before heading off to Norway to work and stay.

Oh Look it's almost that time again and other things

Is it really a year since I had the last one, no can't be oh darn yes it is. Folks it's almost that time again, that time everyone either hates or loves or both. It's my birthday Soon - okay I know maybe 3 days notice isn't much but lol it's me we're talking about here Mr Disorganised Choas.
I helped drop my oldest sister and the BIL at the airport this morning for their 6:30am flight - they had to be there 3 hrs before hand (darn laws). We had a fun time getting there as well she was driving my dad's car, she's fully allowed to as she's on the insurance for it. One thing I should mention is for some reason I don't know why she hates going across bridges - maybe it's just the "Forth Bridge" she hates i don't know. Well the road to the airport is pretty straight forward - just follow the signs but Oh no dad knows better that's not the turn for the airport there is one further up - no there wasn't so we kinda went the tourist route in. Driving back was far easier, I knew where I was going, ignored my dad basically :P, only reason I was driving dad hates driving at night now, and I am allowed to drive the car IF the main driver isn't feeling well due to fact the way it's paid for it's a "mobility" car so there are rules such as you need to be on the "insurance" for it proper to be able to drive it yourself. We did get home pretty quick thanks to my driving safely at top speed ;)
However someone appears to have given my the cold or the flu or something Im feeling crap :| - bet it's a colleague at work. Speaking of work I got Monday OFF :D since there is a holiday the Following monday and Im working it, the monday after that when I would have had the day off Im covering for someone else on a slightly different shift (4pm to midnight) doing that on the tuesday as well but back to normal wednesday :-S gonna totally screw me up but never mind...
:)

What a Week

Well I've survived the 1st week back at work, new work schedule 8am to 4pm works out nicely actually, gaurenteed days off, if there is a public holiday I will get the next monday off. I have to come and go with it, some overtime is involved like i may have to cover the shift after mine sometimes - 4pm-midnight (but i don't need to come in at 8am that would be a bit MUCH!). I've been playing catch up all week as I expected but it's been fun (or rather not as dull as it was).
Mind you one small niggling ANNOYANCE the office got a small re-arrange - my desk was CLEARED! of all paperwork (it was apprently a mess - I could find everything on it I rarely sat at it as I was always at my other desk :P
It's been tiring all the same.

Well Im relaxing...

Hey guys, i do feel more relaxed, I do honestly, heck im even looking forward to looking after nephew which I do enjoy but if i've been working I just wanna crash and not be bothered by anyone till like NOON...
I now know this is not good for me, why I hear ya ask well I figured this all out myself Im so proud of myself...
I've been sleeping long hours for me this is like more than say 6hrs and been waking up with a headache like i've been drinking the night before now sometimes I had and put it down to that, it goes away after some tea / coffee with milk n sugar sorry gotta sweet tooth.. So Im trying to keep myself hydrated enough so I don't feel like **** in the morning which I've manage even if I was up till 3-4am and get up at like 10...
I treated myself tonight as well to a movie, of my choice at the cinema, my mate and his girlfriend (she who is obeyed :P) went to go see "You, Me and Duprey" tonight so I thought about it looked up what was showing locally, saw that film looked it up and well went no, not for me tonight, I went to see "Crank" all I will say is it's a totaly andrenalin junkie rush type film in more ways than one..

Oh while Im on the subject you may notice a few new links below the main kids link which has now been fixed so that that clicks are added to my running total, they were counted before so your clicks haven't been wasted :)

I'm done...

Im now on holiday for 2 weeks... harrah.... can ya tell im excited, not really i tired, can't be bothered doing anything and probably won't no cash which of course sucks.
I'd have prefered an easier past few days at work but fat fooking chance, my colleague who I covered for the 2 weeks previous to this one announced on monday that he was leaving for another job, not too bad, unless you consider during the 2 weeks he was off 2 of the night/weekend controllers left as well as the driver who went around checking remote sites, we knew he was going, figured the other 2 - they left without so much as a bye, or good luck. The new driver we got lasted 10 days :| not really a hard job, check 5 places, lock up the main office, set the alarm, unset in the morning and open up..
So last week I was busy showing / training as best as I could the 2 new starts, we had a 3 man nightshift team that works 7 nights + 2 weekend shifts between them.
Of course with my colleague being off didn't have access to the material he handed out which meant EVERY PROCEDURE that is carried out in the control room had to be written out and then checked and reworded to LOW IQ level or there about which PISSED me off a TAD. I mean I could just write 1 procedure to cover all the sites, that could be handed to them, site numbers are all in a folder... NO HELL FUCKING NO! I had to write: One for Intruder / Vehicle on a site, One for a fire on a site, duplicate because we have working / non-working (mothballed) remote sites, get all the site number, all the managers names & number. How the barrier is worked the PHONE numbers of Both the RT (which are speed dials on the phone in front of them). EVERY MINUTE FUCKING DETAIL had to be written down and logged..
I mean Im not the freaking supervisor but I HAD to do it, my colleague was that and he done a little.
Oh this was on top over all the other work I had to do as well like :
Test bits of kit, wire stuff up, figure stuff out, drop kick a customers alarm panel so that it would set properly without a long winded way of setting it..
I was meant to go today and program another alarm panel for the same customer on a different site but that went out the WINDOW cos of these PROCEDURES, it's all PROCEDURES, PROCEDURES, PROCEDURES with someone and it's to be done HER WAY! no matter how well it worked before.
I was gonna do another post about me but Im just a neurotic fuck up, maybe my mother should have listened to the doctor at the time and got rid of me..

Monday, August 21, 2006

Klacteal or should that maybe Kraznox...

Can ya tell I've been watching "The Ant Bully", well maybe just a little...
Okay my applogies to Sharon and Melonie for no recent comments on their respective blogs, I didn't realise there was new post I just got the "old" page as for some reason my freaking nice browser FORGET rule number #1 - Check for new material and fetch it for me!
I'll let it slide this time.
Thankfully some good news - I'm finally getting more than 2 days off in a row :D "praise the mother" - my 2 weeks holiday begins 4pm on Friday :D so from then until 10am on the monday 2 weeks after that I'll be selectivly ignoring my mobile (cell) phone - gotta love being able to set a specific ring tone to a entries in the phone.

It is possible to smile and cry at the same time.

I was reading the daily humor letter I get and this was in a section entitled "Daily Kudos" which IM gonna directly Quote

Re: Happy Friendship Day

Thank you to all those who sent me e-cards or left comments on the post :)
I would have thanked you sooner but to be honest I've been too tired to post.
Okay hold it right there, I have a good reason for it, called working 12hrs and having to get up at 5:30am and not getting home till around 8pm and having to filter and report all the spam I've been getting (see previous rantpost about that).
I mean I've even neglected my FAVOURITE online game - World of Warcraft...
So I am here honest, I've been leaving comment here and there.
Now it's just me and something nice and Ice cold from the mini-fridge...
I got the weekend to recover before I do it all again next week, the joys of having a covering a colleague.

Warning! Warning! Warning!

This is a general announcement, in case I haven't made this before..
Some Stupid Mother FUCKING ASSHOLE SCRIPT PRICK is SPAMMING e-mail using random names but MY EXACT E-mail address, not my Hotmail / yahoo / AIM one but private (well ISP based) e-mail address, also notice a small variation same name but with a "d" on the end, if you follow.
So if you recieve an e-mail proclaiming to be from me that doesn't use my actual full name in it then Trash it, do not click on any links just trash - don't report it as spam other wise ligit e-mail from me won't get through :( I may try and see if I can use a similar but alternate name before the @ in the address line will still have my full name in it.
The only reason I say this is well lets just say i've bounce a few in the over the last couple of weeks but today I come home for work (after 12hrs of being there) and mailwasher states 64 email - 54 were trash... about half were from my exact email address or the varient mentioned above..
To the MOTHERFUCKING ASSHOLE SPAM SCRIPT PRICK - I hope your balls drop soon or better yet drop off..

Friendship Day is August 6

Well the title says it all doesn't it...
Why not send your friends who you've not seen in a while a card, okay maybe a bit close to be sending a card but it's the thought.
Another possibility is using an e-card site such as www.angeleyes2.com which is 1 of many.
Now if your feeling generous and wanna say something a bit more special there are websites out there like www.ftd.com and many local florist have websites you can order through, okay so you need some form of bank card that's the only down point.
Okay enough about that from me.

Friday, July 28, 2006

Phew What a week...

Well it's been a "lovely" week at work, I was able to get out the sweatbox office a few times to help with stuff so that was good, tbh it was just too hot..
One of my computers at home almost went into melt down, I mean I don't think the processor is meant to be running at 64C(147F) do you mind you it was like 25C(77F) felt more like 27C(81F) outside though. Even when I was out it was plesant while driving to and from the places but very little breeze on a hot day and humdity about 60% not nice now is it..
I've drank countless litres of coke, irn bru and water this past week or so...
They say it's gonna cool down a little over the weekend I hope it does.
I have the delightful task of looking after nephew this weekend ;) should be fun, I need my car washed and he's just volenteered :P, well I think a the prosept of some football down the glen will persude him ;)
Right Im off to grab some ICE and pour myself a cold one...
Enjoy.

Sunday, July 23, 2006

It's still pretty warm...

Okay so it's not as warm as it has been it's only like 21C (70F) right now and with a few clouds which probably will mean a little much need cooling rain later, it's fairly humid although not as bad as before thank god.
Long may this continue like this, I could actually get used to it IF i didn't have to sit in my stuffy Air Conless office with all the kit in it. That said I don't actually have the inclination to go out and "catch some rays" maybe I should lose my "milk bottle" look, what says you?

Wednesday, July 19, 2006

Phew! It's a scorcher.

Okay practically all of my limited readership will not think this is very warm but trust me when your more expecting 17-18C (62-64F) and your getting around 23C (73F) it's warm - minimal breeze, humidity 70%, falling to aroun 16-17C (60-62F) with high humidity :-S you can see why, that and having to work inside with NO A/C, well the UK doesn't really warrent A/C now does it, well when i say no A/C I have a 3-speed fan to try and cool the place down, windows open, ignore the 22 14" monitors, 22 recievers, PSU for those recievers etc. Well today was meant to be really hot, it's relativly cool here but futher south you can add a few more Deg C to those figures. I was kinda lucky I wasn't in the office today, was yesterday :-S, today I got let loose so to speak but well I had to go into an attic space which has 0 air flow, cue wilt... I don't sweat that much, Im not the type to have water drip off me but I was close...
I just need a storm to break this oppressive humidity & heat, would do wonders!
Okay that's me done now, I await the critic of temperate little me...

Have you ever...

Have you ever just wanted to very, very politly smack the snot out of someone else kid?
Well all I can say is Im amazed this hasn't been done yet by my wonderous sister, who has the patience of a saint, mind you my sister taught me how to be devious so you can imagine that killing them would be kind!
Now it's not often I mention my nephew now is it..
Let's just say where they stay there are a few families with kids, now most are fine, some a little young to be playing with Connor but that's going off point.
There are 2 - one lives next door and well let's just say "BRAT!!!!" is too good a word for this boy! He acts like an idiot sometimes I mean acts like he's 4 or something you know the way kids act all stupid like someone's just clunked them upside the head, that's who he acts.. Now he's fine in SMALL doses BUT when he's "partner in crime" the little madam from the across the way is around it's 2 v 1 and you can guess who the one is, this PISSES connor off no end but he's learning to deal but he won't go out the front door even if they aren't there to play by himself which he used to do no problem.
This stresses him no end and in turn stresses my dear sister...
Now this is the fun part, even although his "mother n step dad" and her "mother and 'partner'" (more of that in a mo) know this may be going on they wanted my sister to chip in for a "trampoline" for them all to use, now she didn't go for it so they had to pay for it between the 2 of them ha ha ha £100 for an 8' x 8' with side netting etc, which connor has never went near (even although he could as it's outside).
Now on to the "mother n 'partner'" well all i have to say is I don't know which one of them is the more "butch" if you know what Im getting at.
Now all this anger connor has bottled up (I wish he wouldn't he's so like me and my sister is dangerous!) has to come out somewhere and it normally does his football teammates get it, in fact he had to appologise to his coaches for letting rip so to speak as well as one of the parents of the kids who he said something too, appologied twice - once there and once on the phone (his mother wasn't feeling great at the time)..
Uncle G to the rescue here...
Well yesterday was spent at my sisters fixing her broadband - darn freaking stupid USB DSL drivers and Windows 98se. My nephew kept asking me to go outside to play football which I wasn't going to do as I was busy but "We",my dear sister and I had a plan, I went how about you let me finish this and then we could erm "Go to McDonalds" then go to "the Glen", that's Pittencrief Park aka Dunfermline Glen, so we could play football there we'll imporvise goals as well ;) that worked gave sister some breathing space to do stuff and actually tired nephew out :D Kudos to Uncle G.
Ah that's it Rant over...
I'll post more when I feel like it :P

So Long Great Aunt...

Well here's a post I had hoped not to have to write for a few more years but everything must come to an end at some point..
I only ever actually met her once, when her and her husband came over from the US for a visit, I'd be about 12, so just a few years ago now. My parents did go over to see them about 9 yrs ago, I didn't go as well stuff needed to be done around and well just wasn't fesable for me to go too.
I can remember when ever she phoned, it was like she'd never left scotland even although she'd been in the US for more years than I've been here. Never once did she lose that unique accent, the broad scots tounge.. She did keep going the longest though I mean 97 ain't no mean feat is it now..
Mind you I wouldn't have tangled with her as she spoke her mind, makes me laugh at some of the things she said towards the end in the nursing home she had to go into since she couldn't look after herself, went a bit blind, so the put a TV in her room,
"Wit dae I need a TV fur, I cannae see it!", roughly her exact words. Thankfully she died peacefully in her sleep, got the call yesterday morning at about 7:45 our time, so you can imagine what time it was in MA. I got to know when I got home from work. I was going to publish something last night but I couldn't think of what to write I still can't.
At least her and Great Uncle Don are together again..
Only one thing to do know bring her home :), her daughter is going to fly over with the urn at some point..
So long Auntie Eff, sorry Uncle Don, your peace is shattered again, I can just hear them laugh now, just thinking about that..

An Interesting Factoid About Me....

This nugget of wisdom brought to you by my Mother (I love her I really do, sometimes it's OTT - that will teach me for not moving out - it's due to lack of FUNDS :-S) and a little touch of the old alcohol.. The stuff mother comes out with when tipsy ain't stuff she'd say normally..

I shouldn't be here!
Why I hear you say, well if my mother had followed the advice of the doctor (who if still alive I'd love to meet just to tell them off) and gotten rid of me I wouldn't be here. I'd have "Problems" apprently but hmm mother didn't and here I am so to speak.
I wouldn't say I was a small baby but you could put me in a pram with my head on one side and my feet could touch the other i.e sideways!
I did almost die along with mother when i came into this world.. (I was meant to be a big kid - well did they EVER get that one wrong! - mother had gotten stuff to fit me but it looked like a tent on me :P)
Well I am here, albeit with a "minor" problem I don't know if it's genetic or just cos I slouched but well you know all about that already - posted about it a while back... go find it yourself - never know what else i might have told you about me (that's of course unless your a loyal reader and you don't need to :P)
Well from then till now I've fought many a battle, often with people who just don't understand that people who look different shouldn't be insulted / bullied..
I was the "Small kid" that accelled at maths but my written english was never exactly spot on.. I was always one of the last to be picked for the team in Gym class.
I was the one that kept my head down and got on with the work as much as possible, just to try and escape, i pushed too hard I think or maybe overestimated myself or both..
I did go to "University" but well less said about those 2 years and the 6-7 that followed the better..

"Darkness all around, he searched for something to light the way, to help him find the path, alone and lost not realising that he just needed to reach out and say 'help me!' and he'd find the way again. Self-reliant that's what he was or so he thought anyway, the truth was some people he cared for he shouldn't have, but then again he didn't know the whole truth at that point for if he had it would have been a whole new set of rules. So lost he kept searching, in the end it was a journey to find himself in a world he didn't understand, as he didn't understand himself but he would given time."
Even now there are things I don't understand, I'm missing "components", for want of a better word, that would help me interact better, know stuff that at my age I should know etc.. nothing I can put my finger on but I don't know things do I.

God walk by your side and in your hearts..

ah the joys of summer

Well what can I say, been absolutly glorious weather in my part of the world, actually sun for like of the day temprtures in the high 50's / low 60F at least.
Only down point, I've been inside working, well that's not strictly true, i wasn't at the weekend.
Saturday Morning: Up nice and early, because it's that monthly ritual that is taking my nephew to football, the team has vastly improved since last time. I say that because last time, they didn't move about they just like stood there, now they are moving around a lot more making the passes etc, now if they'd only listen and PASS the ball to ma nephew when he's in clear space and ASKING for the ball they might score more than 1 goal in a game. Oh for those interested it was 4-1 to the other team in the end. 2 each half, nephew was in goals first half and save a good number, one was a really good save the sort of save you'll have seen at the world cup (he just got his fingers to it to tip it over the bar :) ). Second half he got let lose up front. I got to my sisters about 8:30 am and I left at like 7pm was a fun day, i did get some sun and yeah i did watch some football.
I have a puzzle for you to see if you can work it out because I'm having trouble with it.
Sunday : Lazy day since well i'm on the early shift this week so 5:30am starts, played world of warcraft a lot finally got an item i'd been after, a new staff that has way better stats on it that the one I had, had to do a few runs of the same place to get it as it only "drops" from the boss at the end of one particular dungeon and i had to do it again as some stupid priest rolled need on it with me even although they KNEW (or should have done) that, that was the whole reason i was there...
Second time I went it was just me and a paladin from the guild - we erm died a few times and everytime we died the whole dungeon reset :( kept having to kill the same one's over and over again, got a priest - same thing happens they rolled need on it, but this time I got it :D
Monday - Today: Work, attempted to get a wireless network to connect from one house to a flat which is like 40-50 feet away - no problem eh - wrong! didn't wanna know even with the latest and greatest tech the "Netgear Range Max (WPN824) Wireless Router" and appropriate wireless interface card, it reached to a point but that point wasn't good enough spent yesterday trying get the thing to connect to a Linksys Repeater which we'd been told would work a treat.. did it heck!
Today - got the thing reconfigured to work with something it states it should work with since it support "Wireless Distribution System" whatever that is, fancy name for something rather annoying :P
Now it's still not working but got a lead so hopefully it will be resolved tomorrow if not I'll erm "swear"..
I think that's everything...
See I do remember to post now and then :P
Now as to the puzzle:
Pick up phone - no dial tone / not anything at all or noise.
Use PC to go online via a ADSL modem - connects and works fine, Explain cos Im puzzled!

confucius say... (Additional)

Okay, Im still a lil confused a lot less than I was, what a week.
Monday: get to work, say morning to everyone and get started never really had a chance to talk to her, got a goodnight for her
Tuesday: Went a fixing things so nothing then either. As above.
Wednesday: Actually I don't know.
Thursday: I left the office just after 2 and well I went home from where I was (someone not happy at this - it was Bingo Night :( ). All I will say is wireless networks are a PAIN!.
Today: Left at lunchtime and was back for 5, wireless working better after getting a new bit of kit.. The bit of kit we had would probably have worked but maybe not.
Anyone recommend a wireless access point that actually doesn't need to have a network cable connected to it i.e one that actually acts as a repeater / WAP and don't say the Netgear 602 cos it don't it needs addition "satilite" 302's to work and that stays connected to the network..
Argh! that and It's been warm all week, stroll on, too warm in the office though :-S
Oh and Im gonna have fun tomorrow gonna be looking after nephew and taking him to football :P
