What Browser do you Use?

Hmm I was thinking it is really important now as to what browser you use as some websites still "favour" one particular browser or another browser...
I personally use Firefox, IE 6 (Upgraded from 5), Netscape 7.x, Opera 6..
Why all these different browsers well I want to know what my home site looks like in the various browsers, seeing how it looks in each after i've done small changes to the html/javascript/css code.. Sometimes it work sometimes it don't..
FYI - Opera is the most pain in the ass to get "non simple" stuff to work in..
Personally since Firefox came out I've used it pretty much exclusivly to browse sites, however I've come across one or 2 that differ from how they look in IE / NS and one that didn't work until I installed one or 2 Extensions to FireFox ;) (IMHO Firefox Rocks)..

The extensions (checkable via Tools > extension) I have "installed" are:

• Adblock - Does what it says blocks page ads, you need to play around with this as it doesn't come with any rule book, you create the rules as you surf, you can choose to block or not.


• Chatzilla - A nice IRC chat client has it's uses


• Download Manager Tweak - Tweak to the download manager that lets you show what's been downloaded in a sepertate tab / windows - most useful


• Foxy Tunes - Lets you have Firefox and your favourite music player open, with the player minimized out of sight, this gives you control over it (supports a large varity of players


• PDF Download - Only just found this one, useful if you want to save a pdf document rather than view it in your browser..


• BlogThis - Also just got this and not tried it, but it apperent it link stuff back to your blog..


• MediaPlayerConnectivity - autodectects (or you can manually set what it does) where quicktime / real player / media player / you favourite mp3 player is installed and then (once you've select its behaviour) automatically plays / smart play (which I use) /gives you a choice of what link to play / etc..


• Play Launch - Gets past a "bug" of Launch.com which requires you to use IE or Netscape 7 and you neeed to have the latest media player installed as well - not with this plugin ya don't - just need to set it up for your connection speed and how you want it to launch itself and away you go on launch.com

Firefox is nice, can be skinned (unlike IE) - i.e. you can change the look of it just like you can with Netscape and Opera (what is it with MS and not being able to change the look of stuff)
It supports the standard plugins - if you don't got them it tells you and offers you links to get 'em which is sweet - integrated updates which is useful:) - also stable it's been used in Linux for ages - well the Mozilla Browser it's based on has anyway :) - instead of having 10 windows you can have 10 tabs - a definate Plus

Okay I think that about says it all for firefox... I can't recommend it enough, someone one day recommended it to me and I eventually got it to see what all the fuss was about and haven't looked back since - only on a few sites do I still use IE but only because they are in my IE favourites (which you can import into firefox if you wish)

Addendum: Erm I didn't include Safari as I don't have a mac and it appears to be a mac OS only browser...

Now since this blog is still "relativly" new (even if it does have stuff that goes back to 2003 - from old DD) I've decided to allow my readers (how ever many there maybe to leave a question in comments...

Monday, Monday....

Well hmm now lets see what can I say about today but ARGH!!!! Hmm I need to persude the boss that we need shelves for a load of stuff mainly alarm boxes as they are sitting literally all over the place there is like about 200 of them all on the floor of the lab area which is now my workarea / storage + I'm trying to clear a space to put stuff 2 19" rack mount cabinets in.. It's big enough but there is one corner that is full of stuff that I can't move... It just looks a mess... I just not long had it tidy but because I've got cables everywhere (see early entries in my DD) which i am in the process of transfering from the beginning (it seems the sensible way) - copy and pasting it from an exported xml file. Unless of course someone can think of a way I can erm do it quicker, I'll be doing it that way (so expect some randomly added entries over the next few days / weeks)

The Dawn of a new Era...?

Okay.. It's time to expand outwith my Dear Diary, Slowly over the next few days / weeks I'll be "importing" most if not all from my DD site (gotta love cut & paste). I will probably loose the comments unless I can get them across as well (wish me luck)...
I know this is one of default templates and I'll be looking for some help from people to help me play around with the set up of my blog..

I can't actually think of a title that remotely makes any sense but then again often when I do put one in, it doesnt' always make sense..
What a interesting few days I've had at work, I actually did some work that is, not that I didn't do work before you realise just this is different..
Finally getting around to moving the Call Centre or as I like to refer to it the Central Monitoring Station around, now you can imaging how much cabling is required to monitor 20+ sites on their own monitor, each site has reciever and recording units it goes like Rx > Recorder > Monitor..
So Coax needed from Rx to recorder > monitor and erm we have some in 1 proper 19" Rack, some recorders in another smaller Rack + Recievers and other DVR's stacked up - not very nice... + it's a NIGHTMARE cabling wise...
Well Enter Solution 1 of 1: Move Monitors to other side of room where more sockets have been provided, move all the Rx / Recorders out of the room and rearrange them in the existing cabinet + 1 other 19" rack cabinet (both of which are full - or will be once addition units come on line..
Sound simple enough, okay just need to cut 28 lengths of coax - why 28 well each keypad we use supports 14 Recivers don't ask why they just do... so 2 keypads = 28 , now you can't just leave that laying around nope it's all in trunking on and through the wall.. Also we are adding a spot monitor so we can see what site the keypad is looking at rather than having to turn and find the correct one...
It's all in hand well almost the "spot monitor" requires a bit of hardware that erm although simple in principle, I can't find it anywhere (or maybe I'm being silly and not typing the correct magic words into google)
I just want the bloody thing to go from Site A to Site B by pressing buttons on the existing keypad no fancy stuff no need to record it, or do this that or the next thing to it (all of which adds to overall £££ :|)
Onwards to tomorrow where I can finish off the cabling, only started it on monday but I am getting a hand (just about)...

Knoppix

Well finally got it working after a while, swapped the dvd drive for the cd-rw that burned the cd - i have a feeling that somehow either the CD wasn't closed properly or it was burned too fast (weird burned @ x20- most odd) never mind it works. Now all i need to do is learn where everything is in knoppix and how to start / stop / show processes. Need to update / install java so I can run d2ol and also somehow patch it into the windows drives current d2ol cache so that it picks up where the windows one left off and such like...

What an Interesting Week

Well things is moving along at work...
Actually got some contructive stuff done this week...
My Work Area is almost sorted, just got a few things to resolve like where to find a Dual Monitor PCI Video Card... as the PC don't got no AGP slot it's old but I have to use it lol...
I'm not going to attempt to install linux on a machine for a while I've had erm a "interesting" time of it, Simple install failed - 1st Downloaded CD fails - error in the ISO, redownload a newer version checked the ISO - passed md5 check, and then I hit problems with my Video card... darn it need to find away of getting the drivers in...
I think Im gonna dig out my Rad 7000 and install that and replace the drive that annoyed me because it won't play nice when I attempted to boot Knoppix (which is Debian Linux based but has smart autodetect)

Snow..

I'm not joking ya...
Just as I was leaving work what starts to fall but Snow, nice sunny day as well cold but I didn't think it was that cold, but it must have been.
Hmm also me isn't feeling 100%, darn cold that someone gave me..

Temporary "Something"

I have no earthly idea where my head was on Saturday / Sunday apart from UP ones own ass... Maybe as someone wrote I need to lighten up, maybe I don't know, I truely don't...
I'm like a caged tiger who's cage bars have been removed yet who doesn't leave the "cage"... It's like I don't know I'm missing some part of me or maybe its there but...... I say I'm strong but days like that I'm not, I just want the world to go away just for a while I just want to hide away I think... Is this wrong?
Am I going nuts / mad / insane / ......
Or is this perfectly normal..
I don't know who am I or do I and just don't realise it..

Last of the big spenders

Well it's true,
All I bought to day was the latest Kinsey Milhone Dectective Novel and a new pair of shoes, the shoes were a must however as the last pair, well lets just say the left shoe talked to person behind as I walked along... not bad for £20 I think they lasted year at least... not bad ehh.
Well like I said I got a book too, wasn't actually looking for that particular book didn't know it was out, it must have been out a while as it was in paper back not hardback... speaking of that I also pre-ordered the Next Harry Potter Novel :P I know but heck I read sometimes...

What a week again..

Well this week has been interesting to say the least at work..
I'm still doing the bloody "Stock check" it's not that there is a lot to do it's just so mind numbingly repetatatative that erm I sometimes end up literally feeling like I'm going around in circles and getting nothing achieved.
Of course this has to be done around my "normal" job which is monitor the companies alarms in other places + monitor the barrier on site which means I have to move between rooms with boxes so I can count / check / re-check / give the smeg up checking it for the nth time and note it down... I'm *Thud*......
Sorry fell asleep there need caffine... I've got numbers and stock items going around in my head forwards, backwards and sideways too..
Argh! Thankfully I got paid this week so I have some money for erm well 5 minutes..

It's now Offical - I'm Back

Well BT called me this morning on the landline (I had this redirected to my mobile while it was being fixed lovely move free transfer of calls :) ) I was asleep as I'd had a hard week at work and it's a saturday no need to get up early, they then called me on my mobile to say it had been fixed and I got a lovely person who spoke with an indian accent and who had problems understanding my scottish accent (I can remove the accent if I'm awake enough but at this point I wasn't) so it's offical I'm back online - god I have no life but the online one...
I've not been idle I've been watching DVD's I've not gotten around to watching, redid my flash menu for the site so I can more easily change it and make the whole text thing darker too :) oh and the whole thing as an Editable flash file is 1/2 the size it was before I changed stuff - I started from scratch copying across the static text bits of the thing and I redid all the buttons / menu effects as well this is what saved the space I did them all idvidually instead of as a set so I didn't have 60 "tweens" that all did the same thing but were classed as different because they were linked to other things.. and I got them all label too so it wasn't like it was tween 1,2,52,65 etc they all have proper names so I can do fixes quicker too :)

I'm Back

Hmm I lost my net connection on Saturday and this is the first time I've been able to connect to post (okay this is really saturday but I did get it back Thursday)
So my week so far has been interesting..
Nothing of note happened on Friday..
Saturday My Aunt arrived to stay for a week or so.. We went use the phone but alas there was "nothing" there, no dial tone nothing, so we endured a week with no phone / me with no net as the net and phone share the same cable..
It's not offically working as in BT my phone provider hasn't said the fault is fixed..
Work this week was interesting to say the least, I'm in the middle of a stock check as I'm getting a "sideways" promotion out into a new role of stores / tech support / etc... the etc is quite a bit I'm sure I'll be able to rise to the challange *zzzzzzz* sorry did I fall asleep hmm probably cos I'm tired from rising to the challange it's more work :(...
Oh well It will take me a few days to catch up on everything I've missed I'm sure..

St. Paddy's Day.

Well St. Patricks day it might be and there maybe a load of irish men & wimen getting drunk on guiness or those who are irish for the day doing that...
I'm not one of them, got the stock sheet looking as I want it (Word 97 sucks - I gotta use it cos that's all that is on the machine I got ready access to)
Now just to start the thing... hmm Lab area where the stuff is looks like disorganised choas, me has to do something about it, move and count time...
I did do some of it today get more done tomorrow as long as it's erm done for the end of the month and all tallys I'll be fine...
Today is also one of sisters birthdays - lucky for her she's in spain or somewhere NICE...

Stock Check

Well today is not the day it's gonna get done, still busy finishing off something i started on monday + other things and what did the boss ask me
"you get the manual for that router, no let me guess you were too busy doing something / too tired" - I went nope got it check your e-mail... Hmm I don't think he believed me lol oh well I did do it though , downloaded from my apache server, then e-mailed to him via internal e-mail:)

Rich People

Hmm how do you convice someone who appears to have more money than sense that they are WRONG...
Well I have done just that today..
Hmm now take 1 standard router not specially programmed to allow specific ports in to you LAN and then take another similar router that is configured to allow those ports + appears to be a hell of a lot easier to set up but for some reason it don't let us send info back to our HQ from that site lol..
See client has a problem when he's sunnin' himself somewhere in Spain, he wants to able to check up on what's happening at his house via the net, which he can do all the kit is in place and works - proven, works on his widescreen wireless blah blah laptop, proven... Works on a god darn dial-up connection in spain, don't work when he hooks in to his nice BB connection - reason his firewall / router is blocking
But no i can't be, we get him on to our site and prove this is the case, simple he shuts up and don't wanna talk about it no more.. GOD these days are far and few but good - now all Muggings here has to do is erm find the manual for the Router (I have the model & maker) and read it..
Manual found on website, grabbed via DOS based FTP lol gotta love the old ways of doing stuff... posted on to my "webspace" on the other pc so I can retrieve it at work tomorrow just incase boss asks.. (I know he will)

*yawn* I think it's gonna be one of those weeks.. At least the flowers went down well with my friend :)

Well been busy compiling an electronic version of some paperwork so I can do some charts and stuff on it + I wanna be able to say yeah it's upto date and complete when I close it all out at the end of the month...
Also it gives me the chance to show off again - gotta love VBA / Formlamatic equations in Excel..

Happy / Sad / Why Do I bother getting up somedays

Hmm well give friend her birthday card + some flowers, drove all the way there and back, it's not that far but it takes about 45 minutes each way, visited sister on way back, was still happy enough.... Came home and well :(
Hmm lets see, how can I put this.. Dinner looked, well pass me the bin cos that's where it's going, it was something that was stew, not something I like at all, mother knows this and wondered why I didn't want it... Geesus, I got a look like I don't know what, felt great until that point now I just feel shit.
My Clan noticed this when I went to play couldn't kill for shit, just kept dying and dying and dying and I said I didn't really care...
Oh to be me. No you guys don't wanna be me.. I think I'll just go find a not very nice rock to hide under. I would have said pretty but it would probably be lifted and moved cos it's pretty....

Blown off Again...

Hmm I've been blown off again, been told by someone simply "I can't" can't what, can't go to the cinema (maybe parents have arrange to go out friday night as it's her birthday sunday don't know yet, I will find out though :( - I'm Disappointed)
Oh well thank god I didn't say anything to anyone about this...

Monday, Monday...

God I hate mondays..
Well we got to put in all the Site Patrols done since the friday night into a system we use (since erm we don't trust anyone else to do it) so it's who ever has the early start that puts it all in and this week it's muggins here... :(
Hmm mind you I have another birthday at the end of the week.. I have a cunning plan if I can pull it off.. Hmm Flowers on her birthday (friend will probably kill me for the gesture but what are friends for)... Oh this is same friend I confessed to that I love her, even if it is just as a friend... Darn it I'm getting Bloody well sentimental in my old age well maybe just Mental... *thoughs please*

Well had a clan match tonight, which we lost, Not before I'd lost the plot to begin with - I asked if I was playing in the 1st game or not, no-one answer yes or no so I went Fine and bounce myself out of team speak, out of the game program I was using too, Bounce onto msn, got told by clan leader - your in next game, I replied whatever.. Was too pissed off at this point.
Got into the game and erm well tactics seem to have went out window.. We bitched about this and that in TeamSpeak (TS) or the typed it in to the game as you can do that with this game - Team / Crew / Squad / Local /Global chat is all possible in this killfest of a game and that's what it was my stats well erm Sucked, sucked more than normal put it this way, It didn't help that we were in a Joint Ops: Typhoo Rising rather than the normal Joint Ops: Escalation (and Expansion to JO:TR) - good game on a LAN / On-line but not really for single player...
So limited weapons / stuff basically missing half the weapons since they only appear in the JO:E pack etc..
Oh well we got bitched at by Clan Leader in our forum for it, serves us all right he ain't blaming anyone he even tells himself off as it were oh boy zzzztime gotta be up at 5:30am :(

Mother's Day

Hmm well got up, Since it's mother's day I'm cooking. I sometimes cook on a saturday and normally make a stirfry but since we had something different yesterday, we're having it today..
Argh what a disaster :( erm I don't know what it was, maybe it was the turkey was starting to go off a little, maybe it was the black bean sauce (too much / too little) maybe it was what else I added, which is roughly what I normally add but it just didn't taste right - oh well Pizza Time later on eh..
Pizza hmm a House Special - Onion, Chicken, Ham, Peppers, Salami, Pepperoni, sweetcorn, basically also a bit of everything.. I was gonna get mum a small pizza with just ham & pineapple but no, She only wanted a slice of what I was gonna have so thus I got a Medium Pizza, 10" if you must have exact sizes lol, went shopping for stuff I need for work, like milk as it's up a 5:30 and I prefer to have most of that stuff bought so I goes in my backpack which goes with me to work rather than a plastic bag which will end up sitting on the front seat of car rather than in backpack behind driver's seat.. Oh well I've made it this far..

Nephew's Birthday Cont...

Hmm well I had a few things to do today 2 of which I managed to do..
1 was to post a dvd to a friend which is done, will get it back at some point he's only borrowing it, another was to get my dear mother some flowers for mother's day since for some reason it's the 1st Sunday in March rather than like the 3 or 4 which it is normally, see mother's day and mum's birthday tend to be within a week of each other. Got the flowers, went to get some shopping done for myself, all I went in for was to get a packet of crisps ( Sea Salt & Fresh Cracked Black Pepper - Very Nice they are too), see if I could see Diet Coke with Lime and to get some tea, I got all 3 but erm ended up with a few more things and spent £ 13 overall..
My phone goes, it's my dear sister her machine (an old one of mine) is acting up, can I come fix.. of course... I get there and walk in to a mad house (Moogie - like your house is normally, kids everywhere), my nephew has a few friends over someone forgot to mention this on the phone of course... Well thankfully cup of tea is on hand, so go fix machine. There wasn't much wrong just a game wouldn't play - needed a minor kickin', Hmm but other problem is mouse is starting to go and the burner (it's an old x4 Writer , x2 Re-Write) don't wanna play any more or rather the software I gave her don't wanna play no more, me thinks it's the hardware giving up.. oh well new writer time - they ain't that much to buy new...
Give Nephew £ 5 towards something for himself (erm it's simpler) He's saving up to buy another car for his Skeletrix set - an it's not a cheap one, he's got expensive taste you know.. I left, went home and arrived just in time for dinner - hows that for timing eh..)
Give mum her flowers (2 pink roses and a dozen mixed carnations, the roses were closed).. She loved them.. Wished my dad a happy birthday finally, he thanked me for my present..
*Since this date the roses have opened up and look lovely - Gosh*

Dad's Birthday

Yup another day another birthday, never saw him this morning to wish him a happy birthday, got home, he's not there he's in bed already (it's only like 8pm - he's over did it helping someone out)... So this gives me time to get to shop and erm get him a present... Hmm 20 minutes later (well I gotta wait for my pizza to cook) I return with a present a nice bottle of whisky which I know he'll enjoy in a box that I can write "Happy Birthday" on :).. He'll get it when he gets up tomorrow...
Hmm the end of a tiring week for some reason..

Nephew's Birthday

Well today is my nephew's birthday, so how the little "angel" has made it to his 7th birthday.. No party this year, last year was well okay but "grandparents" can be a PITA.. Don't ask... I saw him after work..
I got "Hello Uncle Gordon, where's my present" said in the sweetest way... no card for him either, no cash on me felt *shit*... Give him hugs and stuff has piece of his birthday cake which he kindly offered me (after a little prompting from my sister) Gee it only seems yesterday that I was holding him in my arms and he was falling asleep in them.. Darn it I'm gonna cry.... Oh well I got a stay of execution because I know he got a lap counter from his dad for his birthday it fits on to the current skeletrix track he got for his christmas, he also has a "computer" of sorts, it has it's own mouse and everything - looks good + a few more games that he can play on his mum's pc... He's really good a maths and stuff :)

Money, Money, Money...

Ah have cash in bank account again... Erm don't ask how much my wages were or how much I had left before they went in, lets just say a lot and not much left...
March is not a good month for me, 6 Birthdays this month
4 Family, 2 Friends argh this is gonna be expensive.. EEP! no cards bought and I'm on the late shift... Hmm Need to dodge this somehow as 2 birthdays are this week..

Hmm that was nice

Hmm what a nice long sleep i had, must have needed it... well getting up at around 12:30pm isn't something i do often oh wait I do most weekends lol...
Well what do you expect, bed nice & warm, me nice and warm, room warm enough, etc...
Got up, watched "Man on Fire" good film darn good, could have redone the ending (won't say what it is so as not to spoil it) - Hmm it what you get when you hire an ex-CIA / FBI / you name it Spec Ops Kill machine to be a bodyguard...
Played a few more games with my clanmates, we all decided to have fun and changed our names so we'd still get the exp. points but no-one would realise we were all a squad.. That was fun then, we decided to do a load of Co-op maps, that was even more fun... boosted my stats on our own server no end...
Anyone need a Medic?
Well I'm gonna get going as it's erm "Early" sunday morning... Not gonna say how early..

Babysitting

Well I was supposed to be doing this tonight but something came up so I didn't :( oh well... So I went to play a match with my clan only for match to be erm canceled due to opposition not turning up due to there website going a bit pearshaped..
Oh well had fun anyway - Now to get some sleep as it's actually 1am Sat.

Delayed Entry from yesterday

Well part of this entry should have been put in yesterday but was too tired to post an entry. Well what do you expect having to go out to car at 5:45am start it up and start to clear snow of it, make sure everything is clear of snow, lights are clean etc.. keeping hands warm, turning heater on in car as well to help defrost the windows. The slow drive to work, so you don't wheel spin and end up in a ditch or into oncoming traffic.. Made it into work for a nice 12hr shift my colleague picked the right day to be off, boss phones in, he won't be in. So it was just me, the Boss's son and Company Tech manager, myself and the company secretary, in all day.. and I had nothing to do but watch snow in various places where we got cameras.. So i helped figure a new alarm system we got, works nice the highlight of the day, went home after 12hrs again slowly as it was clearish but was starting to freeze up, thankfully this morning was just about the same so cautious I was.. got to work 9hrs of bordem - not really much doing :( thank god i was able to leave at 4pm... Managed to get home lot faster as snow had been melting most of the day.. It however snowed on my colleagues down south - well serves them right for annoying me yesterday - I wished it on 'em worked too...
*yawns* Me going to sleep now... I'll post again when I feel like it

Snow

Well i woke up this morning to snow... not that I hadn't been expecting it but annoying none the less. had to clear car off this was after warming it all up.. drive very carefully into work and there is more snow predicted tomorrow :( nuts me got a 12hr shift tomorrow...

A prayer

Dear friends, many of you may know "the domestic godess" called sharon, she's currently undergoing tests on her heart to see what if she needs a pacemaker upgrade or if a simple operation to fix things is all that is needed visit her pages @ http://perspectacles.blogspot.com/ and read, she is a wonderful friend who even although I've known her 5 minutes I feel proud to know her, so if you could it would be so nice if you'd visit her pages :)

She doesn't have the same feelings for me as I do for her which is way cool, she didn't know how to tell me i kinda had to erm prompt her a little well kinda put it this way it was a interesting conversation.. Was fun almost wanted to go around the desk and kiss her just the once a nice friendly kiss on the check just to say my friend kinda thing, she loved the rose so, even although she did say I didn't need to do that - oh well old romantic me eh...

I'm Optomistic

Hmm well when I finally got to the office this afternoon - started work on site somewhere attempting to fix something that beat 4 people.. darn it.. I think I may have the solution but it's not one that make sense..
Anyways, seen X appologied profusly for acting like as she put it "a 5 yr old" well I kinda did, just hoping the card (told her how I feel I hope) and the single red rose (which was in way on an appology) work and that she finally knows how I feel about her, just hope it's not too late... I'm optomistic which can possibly only mean one thing, it's about to got a bit pete tong *see earlier entry for what this means* and then go downhill from there.

Reason: Well Twat boy here sent X a txt message about what she's like when she's had a few drinks. 1) How the **** did he get her number I'm the only 1 in the company apart from her that has it and neither of us have given it out

One of those days, typical me ....

Well not a bad day, a really good day, felt GREAT once I woke up and that..
I was maybe a little too happy, i swear I was glowing, Almost got busted, I think I better tell someone soon or they is gonna figure me out and me is then BUSTED..
Well Mission is on, going to see Ocean's Tweleve on friday, a meal before hand with a friend of hers, who is also coming to see the film, so should be a good night all round just hope I don't bottle it, if I do I think I'll just give up..
I mean think about it 2 no goes, 1 denist and 1 crap films on, now I may just have a chance 3rd time lucky - mind you it's the friday before valentines day :-S oh dear could be good, could be bad oh well Tally Ho!!!

Decisions, Decisions...

Well I decided to leave the clan i joined last week, couldn't actually see the point of it, I wasn't getting any better, I was getting shoot to pieces making the clan look real BAD...
so I left, let them know I'd quit on the Forum for which they've deleted my ID by the looks of things, oh well time to log off, going to watch a dvd or something.

Saturdays

Hmm Argh I HATE working saturdays I remember how BORING they were...
12 hours of complete bordom well not quite I did find things to do, keeping an eye on all the sites, moving the cameras, making note of where the mobile patrol was keeping things up today in various places, photocopying stuff , drinking tea I needed it just a bit...
It was a fun enough day got it over and done with.
I then get home, put something on to eat, attempt to eat it and fail - darn I hate it when I feel hungry yet don't feel like eating what I've cooked dispite the fact it was lovely BBQ pork ribs :) I had half of them - not bad really...
Then I though I just have a few drinks while I catch up on stuff and play with my new clan members in Joint Operations - it's a great game mainly an online game but you can play it over a Lan - it's a must to have more than just you otherwise you tend to die a lot and I mean a LOT..

I had an early start today after finishing late last night not a good combo...
Oh well let see what today brings..
What did it bring:
I did manage to get down to the site I was on, on wednesday and I ended up swapping back the router i had swapped out on wednesday so we could get connected to the remote site again. I need to find the manual and print out parts of it here at home so I can study it, looks simple but then again when is anything "simple"
I then went to the bosses house because he said he was having a problem with his broadband connection..
Thank god I updated a page on my site so it has links to adaware, spybot SnD and a geek website forum How to guide on removing spyware etc.
I got spybot & adaware, attempted to get rid of a "popup type" stopper - the uninstall had to be downloaded from it's website (not a good start) + bosses doesn't rememeber installing it.. I got adaware installed and updated, ran it, attempted to run spybot SnD at the same time to protect the system it Crashed out - a good indicator I was gonna hit problems
I did Adaware found 370 Critical level objects - I stopped it at this cleaned them up and the restarted it as it was getting late and I needed to get back to the office to pick up my car and go home.. I e-mailed the boss a step by step guide on how to get firefox browser - how to install the adblock for it and how to import the filter txt file i had sent. Also said any problems call me, he was last seen heading into cyberspace with a baseball bat to go swipe at things..

What a waste of a day...

I woke up this morning and though no I don't really wanna go into work today...
*yawn*... Well i thought I was going to be going and finishing off what I'd started yesterday as I hadn't had enough time to complete what I needed to do, routers are not simple things... I know the manual for the router I'm using exists and it's looks a good one but I wasn't going to print out all 148 pages of it - adobe pdf's are good when you got adobe installed on the machine, the machine doesn't have internet access so no way of getting it on. I then found it on the laptop I'd been using to access the router on the place I was at yesterday.. darn it oh well that's how I know how many pages it is..
Well I didn't get anywhere today as I really feel for my boss on days like this,
one of the drivers we have managed to put the one of our vans into a lamppost (real cleaver) he's fine but van has huge dent in it, we did have 3 vans at HQ now we have one, I think I said why the other wasn't there (see previous posts) now we are down to the one, darn it.
Best thing of it was the van this particular bunch of drivers drive had been swapped over and was up here to get fixed and it never got swapped back and the van they dented was in fact one for up here so the alarm fitter would always have a van kitted out how he needed it..
Back to square one.. hmm yawn and to top it off I'm working early tomorrow and working on saturday too (all day!)

Brain = Frazzled...

Ever have one of those days where you just wanna take a large wooden type object and beat a piece of equipment with it several times... That was today
who ever said routers are easy to configure was lying.. do you think I could get something to work from behind the router firewall - no... darn it fecking thing :|
changed router and instantly got what I had been looking for... only thing is didn't reconfigure it to allow me into the network from the outside - and I think i got to figure out if I can multi-ip the thing i think i can but can't find the freaking manual for it... oh well time to read and read and read google pages.....

Hmm nothing on at the cinema this weekend - Don't wanna see "Ladies in Lavender" or "Meet The Fockers" < since 1) Not my kind of film 2) I never watch the sequel of a film I haven't see :(. Now I hear you there is more than one cinema in the world but this the only one she knows how to get to, and before you ask why alternate plans weren't made.. Parents can be a pain -her mother said "since your not going to the cinema you can take me to visit someone" and thus no other plans could be made..
I swear i'm never meant to tell her what I need to tell her...

what has you ask, my propects in the love stakes, heard a rumor that the person I think im falling in love with (why think - cos i don't honestly know head is a bit out of it - hmm must be love eh) was going out with her girlfriends to pick up a date last friday.. Should have known better, gee I know her too well, seen right through that one in about oh 1 second flat..
So got into work today at 7am (Argh too early to even think about work)
Along comes 9am and in wonders the "love of my life" kinda person of course someone else was in who had swallowed the joke of hers, they asked how did friday go of course it went very well, she got completely and utterly drunk :) good on her - she needed to blow of a bit of steam.. A good night was had with and she "pulled" a virtual boyfriend - well it's the only way she could get 2 other colleagues off her back - they want us to get together lol oh the IRONY of it all..

New Keyboard

Well I went today and got a nice new shiny yamaha psr-175 keyboard - it's more than big enough for me to hand and does enough for what i want it to do..
I could Just afford it, though i got plenty cash in bank account then rememebered after getting a mini-statement that the car payment / car insurence / internet charge had to come out so i've got about £ 40 in my account once they go, thankfully I get paid next week

What a week

Hmm Yawn, it seems to have been a LONG week this week, maybe something to do with snow, cold weather and me working 10 til 7 and not getting home til around 8. Oh well the weekend is just around the corner oh wait no it's HERE now...
Hmm i've been debating if i should get an new yamaha keyboard or not, I decided i needed one - going to get it tomorrow..

It was snow joke today

Hmm woke up to just a little bit of snow a few inches but enough for driving to work to become interesting. That is once I cleared the few inches of snow and underlying ice of my car, that was once I could open the thing darn lock froze.
I said to the garage i bought if from that this was happening on saturday, guy who sold it to me, very nice guy btw, told me to try the spare key in the lock.
Hmm tried that this morning, No Joy or rather joy after a while (or i got lucky).
Got into car, started it up, turned on the rear heater and the internal heater (set to full heat, on the windscreen and full blast with the fan..), i then set about clearing the snow off the car using my little windscreen clearer I have
hmm snow deeper than the depth of the clearer (it's a mini window squeegy type thing). hands got cold but i cleared it quick enough only took me 10 minutes to clear it off, clean it off the lights clear it off the sides of the car, the boot, the bonnet (as i didn't want snow to fly up off the bonnet on to the windscreen that is SO annoying). I made it to work just in time to start (well just about I was later in that I normally im but still early - so made my normal cup of tea to warm up and got talking to the boss for 5 minutes, go into the bit i work in and got asked "what time do ya call this" I went ophs erm "10 o'clock :P" turns out my colleague who's meant to start at 7am didn't get in till 8 due to traffic he though the road he took would be clear - it was just not some of the roads / bridges it leads to, basically knock on effect in action - I went my normal route and had no problem apart from having go slower than normal.
Oh what fun, it's mainly gone now but they say it's gonna be -2C overnight (ack! ice anyone - not me thanks)

Darn it, all set to go to pictures to see national treasure with my mate and she sends me a text message late last night saying she can't, which I don't mind at all..
Turns out she forgot she had a dental appointment - a minor one she hoped but it might be major and didn't want to go as she would be in pain once the anastetic wore off.. I go okay "think on spot at work"
!!IDEA!! Invite self over - take a few DVD's and make like a night at the movies kinda thing but maybe with some wine.. No go, turns out she sometimes she'll get a migrane after dental work and all she wants to do is hide under the duvet away from the light - good idea.. Oh well another time I guess eh..

Families who'd have 'em

Hmmm how can i erm put this...
I still live with my parents (hey it's cheaper than trying to attempt to afford a place of my own) and have to put up with them midering on about stuff without actually doing anything about it (normally when drunk)
which brings me neatly to the point.. stubborn as a mule are my parents so am i in a way as are my 2 sisters..
I'm pig in the middle of it all even if i don't wanna i hear both sides of the story even if i don't wanna... I get info when I'm just literally in the door (i mean Im just in the door, my coat is just off and my backpack from work has just been put down and I get what's happened that day in the face)
well when I go see my nephew (since I'm allowed to see him and my parents ain't - they let me go cos they wanna know what's going on basically)
I get the other side and I know it's like hitting my head of a brick wall getting my sister to talk to our mother (hmm she took a year to speak the last time and that was over something far less serious - so if anyone is holding their breath you'll expire 1st)
Thank god I can hide neatly in the attic, beside my pc's where mother won't go as she had a nasty fright (and so did I) when the last ladder collapsed on her (oh and she's also put her foot through the plasterboard when she was up once..
I got the fright cos I was holding it and it slipped - hmm 2 - 3 inch shelf (okay it was chipboard but still strong) snapped in 2 when it happened, mother was painting around the hatch to the attic at the time.. hmm I was about 10 at the time so a long time ago..
If i think of anything else I'll add it..
or maybe I'll just move my diary to somewhere nicer lol - I wanna doddle board lol

Christmas Day

Well what a fun day this has been, got up erm "late" - it was just morning, just ;)
Opened all the presents I had- hmm 5.1 surrond DVD + TV (got that earlier), Bottle of Bailey's - hmm that will go down nice, Sweets - hmm well everyone gets the munchies now and then.. some PJ's won't go there, Shower gel and the like - hmm people trying to tell me something oh yeah they didn't quite know what to get me lol. Hmm Went to see nephew - that was fun hmm i'm sure he was cheating when I was racing him around his new scaltrix track hmm, got a bottle of macmillan single malt whisky hmm more alchol for me ;) and a robot shaped radio alarm clock from my newphew who has gone a bit robot mad this year..
He got one of those really cool robosapiens from santa but it don't wanna play ball (might just have to call santa and tell him off) oh well time to crack open the bailey's - oh did I mention my mate is here and he has even more baileys oh hope I don't run out of ice...*hic*

Useful day maybe

Hmm managed to finally solve a problem we were having at work.
I finally got to go and see the other end of the connection that was the problem, hooked into the router at that end - told it to behave, gave it some more info to make it play nice and it did, well port mapping external to internal ip will do that lol (maybe I shouldn't have stuck it in the DMZ) but it worked when we tried it and keep stable for hours lol I go to try it just before leaving as we have to check the remote camera only every so often - and "Nothing" NO... can't be
oh well it was a useful day upto that point
God darn it it will be something equally STUPID (like me!)

Feelings, all my life is feelings....

hmm do I, don't I, Argh I don't know what to do...
Do I write a letter to someone explaining how i feel about them and be made a fool of maybe due to the minor fact that sometimes they let slip things i've told, okay maybe not what i wrote maybe I hope.

Xmas Day

Going to be an interesting xmas day as my sister and my parent ain't talking to each other.. oh well I guess I'll still see my nephew at night lol after I've had dinner I'll probably pop along and open some more presents and get thanked for ones i sent (hmm must remember and actually take my sisters gift with me)

Lazy Day

Decided after all the exitement yesterday and with the extra time I've done at work to have a day where I didn't go anywhere - just relaxed at home, played some music, what some tv & generally chill out...
Remind me not to include alchol in that equation next time - ended up about 1am depressed due to alcohol (darn it sucks)

Crash, Bang, Ouch!

Hmm next time I get the urge to take down a large whiteboard, kill me it will save me doing it later. NO i didn't kill or injury myself or anyone else when taking it down, well i did but only a smallish bruise I hope... it Hurts like hell because it's on the upper arm..

Took all the screws out bar one, yup it was the last one that sunk me, oh that and a minor problem with a barrier being "UP" that I went to take down... Brain in "neutral" for sure...

the screw holding it to the wall was only just slackened... it moved sideways and down on this...
nothing to worry you thing nothing in the way I've been sensible and cleared it all away - wrong "Blonde" moment.. didn't move Computer monitor out the way 1st and you guessed it , it went for a flying lesson straight to the floor. Now it don't work and makes noises that it shouldn't oh well have to figure out how to replace it temporaryly.. darn my shoulder hurts cos I got the board on the shoulder as I had to lever it out ..
Darn it call me BLONDE for sure..
had to laugh like either that or cry - oh well it wasn't one of the companies monitors anyway it was someone elses and they ain't got no spares oh well..

Panic !

Hmm got home like normal - later than normal did some overtime, went down to shop to get stuff and also to get a pizza from place next to shop and.....
It was closed - not normally closed on a wednesday kinda went "eh!!"
food what am i gonna eat - was looking forward to a ham & mushroom with peppers pizza but no I'll have to settle for a Microwavable Cheese burger and some chips well actually I passed on the chips couldn't be bothered..

Roadworks

Don't ya just hate them, on the way home from work taking another route because I fill up my car on a monday, nice simple and easy to remember if i do it every week. Done that expected a little bit more traffic than normal it being close to christmas and all but no - STANDSTILL! well rolling standstill and of course by time I realised there was a problem I was on the slip road and couldn't get off..
Took me 40 minutes to go something like 3 miles or something like that.
Didn't know there was roadworks on the road did I - thought I'll take the next slip road off but no that's the one they were working on :| God Darn It oh well after that of course road cleared was able to get up some speed - journey that normally takes 15 minutes took 50 was not best pleased shall we say.

Re: Website

Woo hoo got around to the last few pages tonight and it's all complient well
not really but the 1 page that isn't won't ever be unless do a minor re-write of it and that's gonna happen anyway as I'm tweaking that page and removing the code that is causing the fault to another page and doing the same thing in a different way. I'm toying with merging the entire sidebar + the "clock" - which is causing the problem because of the way I coded it - don't ask HTML complience is a royal pain in the rear but useful if people see it and say well I wonder if he can help me :D

Hmm ever have a colleague at work who is a complete "waste of space" sometimes, useful to have around but sometimes ya just wish they would "**** off and die" or words to that effect....
Thankful he was out the office doing some "work", i put it in quotes cos that's what it was - meant to go to one place and fix something but it needed something arranged and he didn't check to see if this had been done.
thankfully however he managed to go some place else and fix something else on the list of things we got to fix 1 down so many to go...

To make matters worse we had a Work Inspection to allow us to continue to say was are approved by blah, we past thank god...

Remember how i said I'd be back to fix the network I was at last friday
Knew I'd be back as "the muppet" forgot to pick up the network switch from IT (and the RJ45 crimp tool + crimps just incase I'd mucked up one of the connectors), install it, move the wifi box from downstairs, test that it all worked correctly and tidy it up. I know for a fact he hates working with RJ45 connector. So i went down to discover that he was trying to get a Digibox (Digital TV down the co-ax kinda new in the UK) to stay tuned in and not have any picture loss / breakup / drop out and the dude who was helping him snapped the main TV ariel so a 10 minute job became 2hrs as my mate who was driving had to go get a new ariel so ya can image what I was like, got the whole thing tested as best as I could - plugged in the wifi unit and saw there was a connection to the socket it was going to, tested the other it failed - darn it if one of the pairs hadn't flipped around :-S oh well fixed that and it worked nicely - got the laptop with wifi built in to it and instant connect and a perfect connection.. Saved the day, then i had to get back to work asap as someone was covering why me and my colleague (we share the shift between us see previous entries for pattern) and thus I wanted to let them go home..
What a day - got the TV tuned perfectly (God Im a genius ta boot) :P

Well I decided today that my site really could be better so I thought right what's the best way to see how good it is, check it for complience at the CSS / HTML checker on the w3c site.. this is gonna be fun I only got like 20 pages to check (and fix - probably)

Xmas Shopping

Had the idea that I'd get up early, wash my car (it's silver well it used to be silver) and then do most if not all my xmas shopping in town..
Didn't get up early, went into town and erm well let's see got most of it just got 1 person to get and then I remember "my colleagues" at work - eek oh well there is always next week or some personalised CD eh...

A random entry

This is a complete random entry just for the sheer unadulterty heck of it...
well not so random..
Got to love being able to get out the office and do some "field" work..
well heck all i had to do was pick up a couple of RJ45 couplers and put on 4 or 5 RJ45 connectors and wire up a couple of network points - cable had been run
dead simple - couldn't test it cos didn't have a 10/100 Switch as someone forgot to mention the small fact when I was going for the couplers otherwise I'd have gotten a nice 5 port one at the same time... oh well no doubt I'll be back to test it next week.. should be fun Cat 5 is such fun to work with (more fun then who I was working beside - *mutters something about a muppet*

Argh... I need my wages check this month - god darn it new car has kinda sucked the account a little drier than normal...
Got it today, went to bank - discover it's dated 30/11/04 no can cash it (and have it instantly clear) till tommorrow argh... I could put it in but it would take about a week to clear

More Musings

Hmm woke up this morning, did what I normally do.. hmm munching on a slice of toast - notice a letter has arrived now this is like oh 8:45am we are lucky to see postperson before like 9:30am and the post has been (hmm must be on bonus)
and guess what it was - my pin number for my new bank card - hmm not bad.. need more money since I managed to spend all the money I got out on Saturday...

Musings

Don't ya just love it when your bank decides that the new card they just sent you to replace the one you lost, is "lost" and thus gets eaten by the first cash point you put it into. Well it happened to me, thankfully I was in enough time to get into the bank proper and inquire as to what had happened and see if I could get some cash, that's when I found out that they had accidently (on purpose cos the card I had, had a really short life span like 3 months) put through that my card had been lost again... darn it so thus the reason for it beening eaten by the cash point (well that and they keep forgetting to feed them - poor things) and guess what was wating when I got home..
the Nice new shiny card valid for a good while longer than the one that just got eaten.. Hmm wonder when I'll get the new pin (cos no doubt they will have reissued a new pin)

Parents :|

Parents wouldn't be here without them but sometimes they can be a ROYAL pain in the f**king arse(pardon my lingo).
They've been getting funny calls - withheld numbers since thursday and they have got it into their heads that it's my sister (who they ain't speaking to - don't ask ya don't wanna know) or her boyfriend making the calls
I know for a fact that it's not but they still think it is, well I told them straight that it's not and that I'll fix the phone so no-one can call without us knowing who is callin'....

Time to call BT I guess

Game Talk : Joint Operations

Hmm oh what a nice game Joint Operations : Typhoon Rising is or rather WAS..
updated it as requested..
read what the update did and went :| I normally play a sniper role in the game
Snipers have been to put it bluntly Castrated :-& Scope should have a Zoom, it's gone, fixed times Scope now, my fav weapon the L115A has had a reduction in the scope zoom for x16 to x12 :| a few other bugs as well - hmm but heck there is enough to fill a WHOLE forum - well a Novaworld forum anyway - I'm not the only one slighty / majorly / now where did I put my "gun" peeved off with Nova Logic for doing this change..

It also did crazy stuff - now I had to uninstall it an reinstall it, I updated to the previous patch since I had that and it works WAY better..Can't get on to 99% of games online with it because I REFUSE to update again..

A Bad Day / Good Day

Hmm got woken up to be told that someone who as far as I'm concerned should crawl under a rock and never be seen again, had turned up :| that really ****ed me off, great start to the day.
I had decided that maybe I should upgrade my graphics card but was only thinking about it until I got told, so I was to the Computer shop for some Retail Therapy - My Style.
Got a Nice New Graphics Card that runs like twice as fast as my old one, has 4x the video memory on it and what can I say runs sweeet as a nut..
oh boy tried it out on a game I normally have to have the fx down on, turned EVERYTHING to do with FX on in the game and I mean them all, played smooth and it was like Huh is this the same game... I could actually make stuff out clearer and from further away it was like OMG...
Got a few more games as well so gonna have fun playing them

Birthdays & Fireworks

Hmm had an okay day at work,came home, went to see my sister to hand her, her b/day card :D and got roped into setting of some fireworks (safely of course) for my nephew and his young friends :) that was fun for 25 minutes until someone complained they were too noisy this was at like 7:30pm and it wasn't like we were near her well about 20-25m away and had set off all the rockets we were gonna set off anyway :| bah humbug of well it was fun..

Back to Work

Hmm oh well holiday all over, back to work today. Nice quiet day today thank god, only the usually monday crap but did I expect any less NO... :D Gotta love it

Almost The End of My Holidays

Ah what a nice relaxing (well not needed to drive to work, actually work, then drive home) 2 weeks I've had :)
Oh well back to it on monday morning bright and Oh My God it's an EEEEarly start..
Got all of the things I want done, done. Well Not true but they are completed enough that I don't give a stuff about it...

My Xmas Present Real Early

Well I've got my xmas gift from my parents already.. well I needed something fit into the space that my computer once sat in, so I now have a DVD Player with built in 5.1 Surround Sound decode / amp :) and a TV to go with it...and the bass on it ROCKS

The Unit / My Room

Well my room has been swept (great having a wooden floor) and all the dust removed and stuff, telephone system redone slightly as I don't need a phone socket where I had it anymore lol... The unit got cleared out, the back taken off, put flat then disassmebled not like I did before (stupid head that I was), taken back down to my room, mum helped me here as it's kinda difficult to move a piece of wood that is 6ft long and about 2 1/2 ft wide down a ladder as it's kinda heavy.. so moved everything out of the way to rebuild it, rebuilt it in like hmm 20 minutes - god Im getting good at doing that. Oh well time to go get another unit for my PC to sit on, one that can handle my printer, scanner, 5.1, mouse /keyboard and erm a few other USB devices lol :) Wow thats a long entry I need a drink.. AH much better nothing better that ice cold coke right from the fridge (god bless mini-fridges)

The Attic cont...

Hmm I was right, got the unit up and it didn't look okay this wasn't before I had managed to actually almost wreck it taking it apart darn it, took it down the wrong way stupid me...it still goes together though so that's okay..
well that's all the PC's up, stuff up, just now got to set them up.. oh boy I forgot how many cables and stuff was behind this pc. hmm 5 Usb, 3 stereo leads for 5.1, mouse / keyboard wireless reciever, video cable...

The Attic...

The Attic is now floored, so all i need to do is get stuff up here lol :> ya ya thinking about it I don't think the unit my computer is in will look up there but we will see.

New Car

Got My New car, me happy again...
What Me not happy about is I've lost my bank card and almost didn't get my car because of it... oh well happy days are here again...
oh and it drives really sweeeeet...

Ah Last Day for a While

Ah Last Day at work okay so I worked the late shift this week but who cares...
2 Weeks OFF - bliss, got things to do but they will all get I hope...
Floor the attic, move PC's, move furnature, set up PC's again, re-network all the pc's adjust the lights up there. Oh and get a newer car as mine is stuffed :|

Car Update...

Me Thought about it, phoned the place that has the Ford Ka to see if it's still there, it is, told the Senior Sales Manager I want the car so oh well me guess me will be paying it off for the next few years...
But I'm Happy Again....

Hmmm went looking at few cars today - hmm tempted by a few
nice almost new Vauxhall Corsa, bit pricey, a not bad Puegot 206 and a nice Silver Ford Ka (I know it's not to everyone's taste but I like).. £3,995 much newer than my old car so me happy, have said I'll think about it..

My Car....

Hmm decided to go look at my Car's MOT certificate the other day... eep! it's due, so books it in for today and...... (dramatic pause)
it fails :| BADLY, so badly it's not worth fixing, would cost me as much to fix as the car is worth, infact the 6 CD changer I got in the car is worth more than the car itself...
I liked tha car :( Now I'm gonna have to go hunting and find out how much the car is gonna cost me and how much the insurance for it is gonna cost
and to top it all I ordered some flooring so I can move all my PC's into the attic this morning... oh well it's only money.

Working...

Oh well couldn't get out of it for ever worked today for a few hours - darn that was SO boring.................
