I've survived christmas

Well I can say this I survived Christmas here at the ranch although it was a close run thing let me tell ya. Well I had 5 glorious days off work. Had Friday off, the weekend I don't work weekends :D, and Monday Tuesday off as well. So All in all not bad, sat back, chilled out to my vast music collection, played World of Warcraft but in a totally chilled out way, decided my 2nd Skills such as First Aid, Fishing and Cooking needed to be upgraded as well as my main Professions of Mining and Blacksmithing so with this in mind I set about fishing for some of the strange and wonderful things you can fish for in the various parts like Mithrel Headed Trout and Deviate Fish - hmm Cooked Deviate fish has a party trick up it's sleeve so to speak it turns ya in to a pirate for 30 minutes and your pretty immune to certain spells and the like. Christmas day was fun got up late well 11:00, had a shower. My older sister and BIL arrived so I got them their presents while waited on mother coming back from church so presents could be opened kinda thing. Although parents had already opened the ones they had gotten from me and other people. Mum did like her Phantom of the Opera DVD box set :D, the stuff I ordered from www.lush.co.uk and the Jim Reeves CD. Dad loved his Clint Eastwood DVD Boxset as well in fact he even managed to put it the DVD player and play it amazingly. Well left for a "few" hours to see my other sister and nephew since well you know they ain't on speaking terms yet. Nephew as per NORMAL was spoilt rotten but he's worth it (most of the time). Hmm amongst other things he got a Gameboy Advanced + several games to go with it, A Robosapien V2 (this was to make up for last year when the Robosapien he got didn't ****ing work - dispite a new controller and that being sent - this year it was tested before hand ;) ), a table football game which he set up on the floor and played with anyone that came too close (bending rules to suit him of course), and various other things like a MegaBloks F1 Racing car that well he'd hinted at just a little while ago hmm guess someone heard him (major Kudos to me:D). Instead of 2 hours I ended up staying 4 - oh well had dinner there as well which was much more fun than dinner at home would have been (trust me on this one folks!).
Oh what did i get hmm well 2 litres of Bailey's Irish Cream :), a Winter Car Care kit which is coming in real handy right now (it's gonna be cold tonight -6C [21F]), a powered hand shaving kit, hmm smelly stuff as per normal and a Suduko Computer Game and after me getting my digital camera - I didn't get very many photos hmm shall have to work on that one..
Oh notice anything different about the blog? It's a clue to another gift I got, but can you work it out?

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all my readers. I'll still be around but hmm I think Im busy christmas day. I wonder why, hmm i think I'll be too busy taking photo's of my nephew opening all his presents with my new camera and eatin' and things like that to blog. I may even take a walk and try and get some nice shots of where I live need to take it out for a test drive anyway ;)...
Your in my prayers you know you are
"May Peace Walk Beside You and In Your Heart Always."
I know that could be hard but remember you may just make someones day with a smile.

The act of giving...

I'd like to thank Sharon for the lovely christmas card she sent me last week, I did meant to say I'd got it but erm forgot with everything else. I'd also like to thank my good friend Katt for her card. I'd also like thank Heather even although I don't have her card just yet. Hmm but it's not the actual act of recieving a card that matters even although both times and one more to come it did put a smile on my face. I mean simple things in life like a card, letter or phone call that can brighten someone's day even if they are the electronic versions of these e-card, e-mail, and voice chat. It doesn't matter the distance, the next street, the next town or 1/4 of the way around the world just remember it might just make someone smile :).
I use Aim, MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger and hang out in Computers Lobby:1 you can find me on any of them if you know who to look for ;)
Merry Christmas all

A Quiz of Sorts

Well I listen to Radio 1 and the Scott Mills show has a part of the show called "Rate My Listener" which is exactly what the rest of the listeners do, the listener sends in a photo of themselves, it's put up on-line at bbc.co.uk/radio1 and you follow the links normal - this is a direct link. He also gets the dear listener on the phone and asks them a few questions about themselves etc.. Im going to attempt to recreate this quiz kinda, your answers in comments please, this is a random sample of questions asked.

  1. What would your ideal date be?

  2. If I was coming round for the day, say bottle of wine, watch some TV / DVD, what you cook?

  3. Who would your ideal man/woman be?

  4. If you had to "bat for the otherside", who would your ideal woman/man be?

Im sure I'll think of more to add...

A Question of Raindeer

You can blame Moogie for this.
You Are Comet

A total daredevil, you're the reindeer with an edge!

Why You're Naughty: You almost gave Santa a heart attack when you took him sky diving

Why You're Nice: You always make sure the sleigh is going warp speed

Have ya Heard?

They gone and done it now, the Politically Correct Brigade has gone TOO Far this time!
Why I hear you ask?
They've gone and Messed with the Winnie the Pooh stories.. They are replacing Christopher Robin with a girl who's more of a tom boy than a girl - FFS your messing with a classic..
Please leave yer views on this on.
Good Idea or Bad Idea, ie would A.A. Milne be happy or has the planets orbit gone a bit wobbly since he started spinning in his grave. I mean christopher robin was the writers son how can they MESS with this?

I did have a post to write about

I did, honestly have a good post to write but hmm as is oh so typical - no blogger didn't eat it, I was writing it and doing 3,4,5 things at once and the poor thing just locked up and thus had to be reset so thus lost the post. I don't think I could do the post justice right now but I'll think on it and well post about it at a later date. See I am still alive and posting.

How did I get here?

Ok how random a post title is that and how random is this for a post? You can sort of blame Wahwer & Melonie for this, kind of anyway. I was chatting this morning to my good friend & colleague at work, Susan. We were just chatting about random things, when I go "How Stupid can I be!" (Moogie, Sharon, Melonie & Wahwer - don't even THINK it!!) Refering to a piece of info I'd asked someone for and realised I actually just needed to go look it up again as it's not written down anywhere not even on my PC, how strange eh!
So this then launched somehow into a potted history of how I got to know Melonie, Wahwer, Sharon & Moogie as well as the rest of y'all. I think this is going to be a series of posts about my life (not sure yet) a bit along the lines of my Honesty post. So how did I end up with a blogspot blog anyways? Well I could go back to '92 but for now we don't need to go that far just yet. I'll go back to '99 instead. This was when I didn't have gainful employment, was on a government funded training course to get me my wonderous NVQ Level III in IT. This is also back when I got my first pc thanks to my good mate stu, it wasn't the Ub3r 1337 thing I have now! It was only a little P1 150 with I think 32Mb of Ram, 1Gb of HDD and running Win 98. I met my good friend and tutor Richard on this course and he persuded me to start doing something useful with my pc, start "crunchinG" SETI@Home work units. The first took 80hrs and I thought why! We then discovered a faster smarter way to crunch them and it took me only 25hrs to do 1. My good friend stu gave me a free upgrade to a shiny AMD K6-3-400 with more HDD space and more ram. Now I'd joined up in the same team as my mate Richard and we weren't doing too well as well being as the team were a subteam of Uber Geek Squad - Arse Technica - Team Lamb Chop to be exact. We then formed our own team before finding Team Free-DC just the kinda team for us. We both then eventually moved to other project as we found out there was more to do than just SETI, I got to know Moogie through Richard and well e-mail and comments left on moogie's blog and my Dear Diary pages. I only had a DD thanks to the persistance of my adopted lil sis and good friend Jen. I then read Moogies post about sharon and her struggle to help Bing, Chatter and Leo in the world. I again left comments, was asked if I minded comments being left, e-mails being exchanged not me. So I eventually moved to Blogspot and set up shop so to speak. That's where I got to know Melonie, and through her, sharons & Moogies blog got to know Heather, Chase, DB, Fiesty, Miss Zooty, Zonker, Acidman, Dax, Ward and whole heap more besides (even if I don't leave a comment I may read your blog now and then). I then one day clicked on Wahwer's blog and well things have never quite been the same. I don't regret anything I've done then, okay maybe some of you will disagree and I'm sorry if I've upset anyone with my actions (many of which don't see the light of the blogsphere). I suppose you could say I'm a bit like an over enthusiastic puppy dog, eager to please and bounding about with loads of energy, I suppose I can say I can be a bit full at times, but that's me..

Hugs to ya all, and don't think you can hide, just come here and get your hug it won't hurt a bit.

Power Blip Panic!

Well I got home, noticed that the programs I had set running on my PC weren't running! Thought hmm it's reset - it's got a virus / spyware / trojen / malware etc.. Thought maybe not but run system checks anyway.. Check another PC - it's was sitting at the XP log in screen (gotta love remote admin that loads as a service before anything!) logged me in, checked the other pc's the same thing. Thought hmm power blip! I was right just enough to make lights flicker but long enough to make PC's go reset :(. Oh and the drive home wasn't much fun either...

It's Snowing!

Yup it's offical it's snowing in my part of the World..
It's just a little bit (well anything under 3 feet is just a little bit to some people :P)
Well I've actually had to move my PC temporarly back to my room from the attic due to this as well it's too cold for the poor thing, that will teach me for misplacing the cover for it. It was well lets just say unless I had the thing running full pelt i.e running the D2oL project it well crashed, reboot......rebooot.......reboot sometimes it would get to windows splash screen often not. So it got moved so I could check it in a warmer place. It works fine - darn cold.

Even I get it wrong sometimes..

Okay confession time. Time for me to fess up to a recent Balls up I did which resulted in this here pc Im typing on, being left in a state of non-bootable ness..
Here's the story, Im love Win 98se (I know it's old hat now but It works, does all that I need it to do, and I can protect it way easier than XP). I decided to go install XP so I thought I'll duel boot the thing with 98 (defaulting to boot 98 if no key is pressed). I decided last night that hmm I can upgrade to XP from 98 as it's got a wizard and stuff to do it for me, so why not "copy" my current windows setup to the same space as I have XP on - wiping out XP 1st, and then remove XP's boot loader type thing. I did all that, removed the bootloader files (oh silly me!), used my trusty (or so I thought) Win98se Bootdisk that should boot me nicely into a Command Prompt to let me type the 2 commands I knew I needed to do... Only for it to say "Error unable to read file MODE.com page not prepared" etc.. darn Disk Corruption! which left me with a problem as it couldn't actually read and unpack files it needed to the Ram Drive it had created so I couldn't type the following commands:
FDISK /MBR <- this fixes the Master Boot Record to be marked as 98se bootable
SYS C: <- to copy over the Windows 98se system files and make it bootable once more..
Didn't have the time to mess around with attempting to make a boot disk on the 2 other PC's I have that run 98 as well erm they are linked via a Keyboard/Video/Mouse Switch that does it's job but can be a bit of a pain - Me thinks me didn't follow instructions right (Typical!) so I machine been offline all day and has done no work for my Team (Free-DC) and no work in the project this machine does (D2oL - Drug Optomization Lab), Argh there goes a 1/3 of my daily output... Not Much really is it.. But a few units here and there, I will remember next time.. Now just to get Win XP to "upgrade" my 2nd "Install" of windows I hope it works else Im gonna be pissy with it.

For Some Strange Reason....

For some unknown reason I decided to check my guestmap (hmm noticed it was fairly empty - HINT!!)..
Noticed Wahwer's Entry and wondered why exactly it meant.. Hmm then for some unknown reason the song "Country Roads......" came in to my head and I just had to listen to it. That does it 1st place I visit in the US, IF I ever have the money, time and inclination - hmm I can muster 1 of them, the other 2 are harder!.

Suggest ya Go listen to the song and just Smile ;)

Wednesday, November 16, 2005

Hmm chillin' out (literally!)

Hmm reason for low post rate, well it's getting colder here and hmm been busy adding insulation to various places so I can stay warm(er) than it is outside..
I'll let you know how it goes once I've Finished it all off ;)

I blog there for I am.

Weel Im sorry chase that ya dinnae understand ma lingo, bit weel it's kinna hard tae read yon southern bit I manage nae bother, ken. Oh wait ye'll nae ken will ye, ya've nae idea whit Im on aboot dae yea.
Noo i kid go on bloging in broad scots bit a think I'll gee it a bye. That's better it's not actually that easy to type in broad scots believe it or not you really have to think what it is your typing and how exactly the word is spelt, now that sounds like simple don't it, it's not being as I am used to speaking it but not writing it.. This could of course be worse, I could as easily attempt to write this in Gealic but even I would have difficult understanding it, or worse yet Doric which is a bit like Gealic but they speak it around about Aberdeen and the like. Now Britian is really nice it has well lets see now 6 languages all of it's own, maybe a few more if you count localisations of english. Well we have English, Scots (localization), Gealic, Doric, Irish and Welsh. So watch out because next time i may not post in english :P I may post in welsh or irish, probably welsh although Im sure one read would annoy me by pointing out all my mistakes I make in welsh, but I'll let her off as she's allowed ;).
Oh I am still alive and with it, just have had nothing to report well saying that the server at work throw a disc, not nice it's not responding at all even when something that should have worked was done it didn't - blames the stupid ass that set the thing up in 1st place for sticking OS and Data in the same Raid set, but enough as I don't wanna go over too many heads..

Friday, November 04, 2005

I've Fixed it (well just about maybe)

I've fixed it or at least put a work around in that will force the issue ;) gotta love javascript and the ability to write bits of the entire page on the fly ;). Basically It's a "hack", a fix, a patch, it checks to see if your using IE and writes one style for sidebar otherwise it writes another (proper one :P) darn IE and it's PITA CSS stuff.

Thursday, November 03, 2005

Okay Here's what It should look like...

I've grabbed a snapshot of the blog as looks to me as I write this post...

This is a thumbnail link so you can click to view fullsized 1024x744 image..

I've been playing some more...

I've fixed the font size problem and I think it's looking good, the colors actually work now might just need a minor tweak but I think it's looking good.. little tweak here and there and minimalistic imaging :)

Tuesday, November 01, 2005

I've been playing

Okay I've been playing around with my template, I had a few ideas and got them to work independantly from blogger so I shoved them in, i know the colors are all out but I'll fix it as soon as I figure out the colors I want and the sizes and well lol....

Sunday, October 30, 2005

Argh!

Okay I give up I'm just gonna bloody well find a template close enough to what I want an re-do and then add back in what i have on my sidebar..
Any hint tips or otherwise point me, else say nothing!

In Light of Recent Posting (Pt. 3)

Okay Now for Part 3, I think you have absorbed the other parts (or your ignoring them totally cos your a smug git!)
Okay Now to get you away from the spyware causing program Internet Explorer (which I only use to read my Hotmail (via MSN Messenger) and Launch.com for radio stations since it dont' work well Firefox due to them being RETARDED!

  1. Go Get Firefox Here

  2. Install it

  3. Run it

  4. It will import all your IE cookies, passwords, Favourites etc Over :)

  5. Go to tools Menu & Click Extensions then get more extensions in the bottom right

  6. Grab what you think you might want,

like Adblock - Get it Here it's the latest version

Download Manager Tweak - nice tool lets you put the downloads as a tab rather than a seperate window

Foxy Tunes - Lets you Play your favourite player from within firefox - I use it for Winamp controling - setup is a bit tricky.

PDF Download - lets you save the pdf to your HD rather than load it - gives you the option :)

Forcast Fox - need I say anymore ;) Nice Tool

Media Player Connectivity - Smooths out a few bugs with some sites and Firefox if you don't got Media Player 9+ installed.

Play Launch - Fools Launch.com and lets you play videos with MPC

Blog This - Tool of use to us bloggers Im sure lets you grab bit to blog not 100% sure on this tool not really played around with it.

Oh and View in IE - just in case for old time sake

  7. Once you got all the Extentions you want - Go grab some nice themes, oh and anything you install to firefox requires you to close and restart firefox for it to be available.

  8. If you download adblock, you may also wanna download this adblock list and import it - Tools > Adblock > Prefernces > Adblock Options > Import and load the file (saves you having to write all them darn hard regular expresions)

Now I've got you off IE and on to a nicer browser - watch how your blog breaks maybe..
Okay Onto Firewalls and the like, Me I use Zone Alarm Pro from Zonelabs, there is a free version or you can evaluate the Pro version, it's at least 10x better than XP's firewall, evan the free one is way better and both will stop stuff that XP won't but it might bug you to begin with when it's not got all the stuff you use that requires net access - instantly be able to tell if you have a trojen / virus though ;).Suggest you read the help that comes with it to understand it fully.
Now there are many virus scanners out there but well heck even Norton's Own Tech support says Norton Anti-Virus (NAV) is crap - So Avoid, McAfee is good but you pay for that, AVG is good free, you can pay to get the Pro version with addition features:). There are free "online" scanners and virus removal tools generally you got a specific Problem you google the "problem" and you find a fix. Once you get the AV keep it up to date
Trojens are a pain but I think between Spybot SnD, Adaware, a good Anti-virus solution you should be able to avoid them but there is a program called "The Cleaner" by Moosoft that will scan and clean them trial available but you need to buy this not free.
Okay I think I've cover it and given you a free firewall, browser + tools, Anti-virus, spyware scanner, and an ad removal tool all free :) (or nearly free).

Blogger Templates

Anyone got any ideas, I've decided to screw the idea of having a Template with tartan in it in fact the idea of any Images other that my what I put on the blog as images, basically no images just colors ideas in comments please.

In Light of Recent Posting (Pt. 2)

Okay Now on to Adaware SE

  1. Download & Install Adaware SE here it's free also - gotta love good freeware.

  2. Run the software on first run / if not been run for a while it will tell you that the defintions file is x days old do you want to update, update it

  3. Click Start, 1st run do a full scan, subsequent runs do a smart scan but go make a coffee while it's scanning.

  4. Once it's done it will show you number of objects found and what types they are, click "Next"

  5. It will give you a list ignore "Negligible Object" just click on the box(es) with Critical objects in them and click "Next"

  6. IT will show a ? box with X objects will be removed. Continue? Click "OK" and your done

Now remember to regularly run both Spybot SnD and Adaware to keep the system in top condition, updating both as needed and Immunizing with Spybot SnD..
Next... Antivirus Solutions and Firewalls oh and a nice browser that actually works and is fast Firefox (Incase you ain't used it yet)

Thursday, October 13, 2005

In Light of Recent Posting (Pt. 1)

In light of a post I made at BWTP and the fact that some people's machines run slower than they should I've put together a small plan

  1. Download & Install Spybot Search n Destory it's free.

  2. Run Spybot - click on Search for Updates and check all the update boxes Download updates.

  3. Hit Immunize it will say something like 0 bad products blocked 2160 possible Click "Immunize" at the top and it will Immunize, put a check mark in "Enable permanent blocking of bad addresses in Internet Explorer"

  4. Now for some work, Click the "Search & Destroy" Button in the left panel and hit "Check for problems", let this run it will find anything that shouldn't be there..

  5. Once it's done it's work, you can see what it's found click on "Fix selected Problems" and let it fix them, sometimes it can fix them due to the spyware being smart and having windows load and lock the file as in use, let it scan again on startup.

Coming up Next
Adaware SE.

Tuesday Already I think.

Hmm well lets see now it's apprently Tuesday well now technically on write this is wednesday but erm Monday well let's just say I've had better days at work, having to work when Ill is no fun at all - but no-one to cover me if I go home kinda means I just gotta wing it and pray I stay in once peice 24hr bug thing again, I won't go into details just that hmm my stomach disagreed with a few things I ate that day to try and calm it down also headache didn't really go away either :( As for Today (well yesterday now) 12hr shift that's right you do the math it's after midnight and so thus I've been up about 17 hrs feeling much better today obviously thank god, So no need to worry they ain't ready to cart me of just yet. Sunday Evenin'

Well it's now sunday evening and well this is the first time I've actually felt okay enough to post anything. Let's just say it's been one of those days, I did wake up at 9 with a clear enough head (just about - hmm last time I drink white wine - might not have been the cause). I decided to get some more sleep, got up about 1pm (i know terrible) had some tea and toast, came on here to see who was about and read a few new posts and to post something of my own and I basically had to go back to bed as well I felt sick :( head was pounding and I ached in a few places. I'm just about there now, after being sick and managing to find something i could eat. I feel human again just about. I have to be up at 5:30am tomorrow as Im working (even although it's a holiday and Im sure I was meant to get this one off - but hmm somehow I got the last one as I was on holiday [didn't deliberately do that]). Grrr to all day working, well that and the fact on early shift all week.. Good luck to Sharon for her operation tomorrow.

Re: Happy Blog Birthday

Melonie anytime, like I read in the comments on your blog, I am a gent of the old school that's for sure. I figured that well a having and keeping a blog going for a year even on sparse postings is hard, so between that and the 7 kids (well hmm men are just big boys lol) you deserved a little something on it's birthday (even if they erm arrived late - ophs)
Confession time: I did truely mean to have them delivered on the actual date but erm I forgot to "confirm" the order, complete the last step either that or I did and navigated away before it was completed - my bad. See Honesty is best way..
Glad you liked them. Imagine the only time you get flowers is when someone's done something wrong... That is NO good (hint to somone!!!)

Happy Blog Birthday

Happy Blog Birthday to Melonie :)

Just found something out.

I just found out a good friend of mine, even although we have never actually met was killed last month. I did wonder why I hadn't seen him online but thought maybe his pc had died and he was saving up for a new one didn't know that had happened..
The Story. He loved his bike, he was always cleaning it, adjusting it here and there, making sure it was in 100% top notch condition, he had all the gear, he did speed but only when he knew the road was clean and it was safe to do so, he was young but not stupid, he could be a pain in the ass but somehow always managed somehow to get back on my side.
So Long Russell mate, take care, shame I never got to meet you I just know we'd have gotten on..

Happy Birthday to Me..

Re: A dangerous thing..

Okay someone posted a song I know and that I have in my collection just need to source it without the vocals in it so I can sing along to it :)
Some people that blog have been luck and have heard me but that was before I made that post, the inspiration almost, so if this all goes "a bit pete tong" then you can blame me, melonie and sharon (only kidding ladies)..
Jackie - you will hear me sing.
Heather - you will hear lonestar - I'm already there. It's gonna be tough I may just cry a little.
Oh and a rendition of Star Spangled Banner is also in progress, I was gonna do all the verses but erm I'm finding it hard to do verse 2...

Catch y'all later.

Honesty

What a random post topic this is, on reflection i suppose I got the idea from the word pictures on Sharon's site, the word popped into my head this morning at work, so while still at work I wrote out on a few sheets of A4 paper the entire content of this post minus basically this paragraph.

Well I thought it was about time I wrote something like this, time to be honest with you, I've seen what happens when others are honest on their blogs. Well what to can I say about me, in no particular order since this is my thoughts and my thought patterns here.

I'm not really a morning person, on the weekends I like to wake up around 11am, but during the week depending on what shift I'm on at work, I can be up at around 5:30 or around 8:15. Obviously At 5:30 all your likely to get out of me is "mornin'" and maybe a yes or no answer to a question or a nod / shake of the head, until I've woken up but that which doesn't really happen till I'm at work. I'm a bit more responsive at 8:30 after I've had a quick shower Im obviously more awake. Breakfast for me is a nice slice of toast and a nice fresh made cup of tea.

I get cranky when I'm hungry or tired , worse if both. This is very true, to some people im more cranky than with others, also if you annoy me enough your gonna get it with both barrels right between the eyes.

As I kid I used to have a quickfire temprament, but quick I mean quick basically if you'd annoyed me in the time it's taken you to read this I've acted on it. I calmed down a lot in the years since then.

Also as a kid all you'd have had to do was ping my nose and it would start to gush the red stuff, that has calmed down now as well only goes off if I've got a bad head cold.

I'm only 5'2" but like I've said ya don't wanna mess with me. I have a spinal condition called "scoliosis" basically it means curved spine, hmm so kids don't slouch unless you wanna end up with a spine shaped like a helter skelter which is basically what happens or can happen. I could have an operation to fix it but well there is a good chance I'd end up in a wheelchair so Im not doing it unless it starts to cause me constant pain. I only occationally bothers me normally it's my lower spinal muscles that lock up only i've i've been lifting something heavy or leaning over something for a long time that it annoys.

I'm 30 soon to be 31, well in 5 days from now to be precise and honest.
Thus im a librian and as such I can rarely decide on things, it makes life a little tricky / interesting as some of you can imagine being librians yourself or being married to / engaged to / going out with one.

I like people to tell me the truth when I ask them even if I might not like the answer. I dislike when people lie to me unless there is a valid and good reason behind it, sometimes it is required. Believe me being honest at the start is more often than not better thatn being found out in the end!

I may actually put a scan of this handwritten post I don't know yet.

I have two sisters who I love even if they are a bit of a pain at times. I have one nephew (see previous posts about him :) ) whom I adore. I have NO brothers that I consider alive, I have one but well he's dead as far as I'm concerned, don't ask why, just know it's something terrible enough that I'd disown him (previous post kinda fills it in).

I am my own worst critic, I hate many things about myself but I live with it, I also hate those aspects in others.

I once did one of those tests at school where you fill out a big list of questions about your likes and dislikes by colouring in boxes where 1 was strongly like and 5 was strongly dislike and it did come back with some interesting results from what I can remember of it, it came back with professions such as "nurse", "social worker" and the caring kind of work, I dismissed them all at the time well this was around 18 years ago. It took me 2 years of Uni (which didn't work out - I only have my friends from then and only the basics of memorys of the good times) and 5 years of being out of work and doing training courses to figure it out and find myself again. I found i was a good listener somehow and that I'm kinda alright at looking after people. So maybe it was just about right after all. I like helping people, again a few of you know this already :). Maybe I should change a few things here but no, I don't think I'll do that yet. "Councilor Gopher" has a ring to it no? but then again I could never charge anyone for the advice I'd give out, so maybe no-one would take my advice seriously.

You'll no doubt have noticed im well versed in the subtle art of sarchasm, it's the way I greet people with a joke in my heart and well sometimes it works, I'd say it works rather well. I mean I'm sure you can tell when I'm being serious and when Im being sarchastic. Oh say I don't think I will post this pencil written script online as well you'd have to take 3 days to decypher and decode the writing and well (this is page 3 halfway down or so).

I hope this helps you to understand me and the way I think a little more afdter all a little honesty goes a long way. Im sure a few of you can relate to that :)

Like My New Clock?

Well I thought I'd put a clock on my blog just so you guys know what time it is over here in the UK (well +/- 1 hr - I ain't doing a 3hr recode just to get DST figured out lol)
It also tells me what time it is in the BWTP, a bit simplistic but simple works best ;) notice the 2 different date styles English for the UK and American for the BWTP ;) just my way of helping take the confusion out of things..

Sunday Mornin'

Well it's a nice enough day here in the wilderness (well it is a bit wild sometimes)
According to my Weather plugin for Firfox it's a nice 15C(59F), Partly Sunny and with 17mph wind from the WSW. I suppose this isn't really that bad for this time of the year. Well I'm gonna get back to my nice cup of fresh ground coffee and sit and read a few or more blogs..
Y'All Take Care now.

A song I heard on the radio

I was on my way home this afternoon when this song came on my local radio station.
Okay Westlife is kinda cheesy but I don't care it's not the band it's the song
Westlife - Flying Without wings

Everybody's looking for that something
One thing that makes it all complete
You'll find it in the strangest places
Places you never knew it could be
Some find it in the face of their children
Some find it in their lover's eyes
Who can deny the joy it brings
When you've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

Some find it sharing every morning
Some in their solitary lives
You'll find it in the words of others
a simple line can make you laugh or cry
You'll find it in the deepest friendship
The kind you cherish all your life
and when you know how much that means
You've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

So impossible
as it may seem
You've got to fight
for every dream
'cause who's to know
which one you let go
would've made you complete

Well, for me it's waking up beside you
to watch the sunrise on your face
to know that i can say I love you
in any given time or place
its the little things that only I know

Those are the things that make you mine
And it's like flying without wings
'Cause you're my special thing
I'm flying without wings

And you're the place my life begins
and you'll be where it ends
I'm flying without wings
And that's the joy you bring

I'm flying without wings
-------------------------------------
Read the lyrics hear the song in your head and say you can't relate in someway to the words..
I'm flying without wings - reason everyone of my friends who I know all around the world that's you guys that is :)

A dangerous thing..

Okay I thought it was time for another audio post from me but erm with a twist.
Now a lucky few people outside my family, around the world have heard me sing, even although I think I'm not great they insist I am. Well here's the thing I had this Idea I'd put up an audio post of me singing something but well let's just say you vote on it :) that's right you get to pick what I do, it's got to be something I can find the words to and more importantly something i can find the music too so I can learn it, so if you pick something I don't know well it will take me longer as I've gotta learn it..
Me out got an early start and a longish day ahead of me..
Oh Chase thank's for the invite fix :)

Only in the US

At work today, having lunch so decided to have a quick read a newspaper that had been left but they weekend staff, it was in the "Sunday Express" so it's their story which I going to run snippets from and since they don't appear to have a "newspaper archieve" I'll have to just read it from the A3 > A5 copy i have in front of me.
Now it looks like a normal shop, 3 stories high on 5th Avenue, nice swanky place. Wait what's that it's a Toy Shop "America Girl Place" where the only thing they sell cost you $85 and well that's just the begining, you have to accessorise don't cha?
Well each "doll" is themed to corrospond with a particular era of American History. That's right folks it's a Doll store. It has boutiques, beauty salons, restraunts and even a thetre but its still a doll store, oh and the beauty salons are for the dolls to get a cut n blow dry in. I'm serious folks.
There are full wardrobes, pets, even a health and beauty spa - by appointment only no less. I'll quote some of the prices for things for a doll bag - $58. An escaped civil war slave doll who has to have her $159 trunk to accompany her. I mean you can go to a dolls tea party it'll cost ya though, a birhday tea will cost between $32 and $60 a head. It's a day out in itself just to see it all but if you go make sure you've just remorgaged the house or inherited a bundle...

Another Idea..

Wow two ideas in the same 24 hour period.
Another though for the "management" to consider is moving the trailer park but not moving it.
Thought about it to somewhere like "http://www.blogworldtrailerpark.net/" it's only an idea but let me look into how much it will cost to host and the restrictions on how much space / bandwidth there will be for it.. I know a few places hmm.. Gonna look on webby.com because well if heard really good things about them and the Guy who runs it is a good guy, has a humor letter, hosts numerous e-card sites like angeleyes.com to name one...

Let me look into it tis only an idea.
Oh and erm how do I put a post on to the trailer park if I wanted to?
Leave a Comment or E-mail me [ I have Mailwasher pro so don't even think about spamming it ]

I had an inspired idea. a Tartan template but hmm I can find one anywhere. Then I though if I could find a tartan I'm sure with my graphic skills I could tweak the template melonie uses but with a tartan theme I tried but erm it well just didn't work at all :( HELP! anyone wanna try and find me a color scheme that will go with "flower of Scotland Tartan" or suggest how I can manage to incorporate it in to my template?

Man whata day.

To borrow a phrase from Mr Dax..
Just Damn, that's how I kinda feel right now my lower spine is protesting lots.. Hmm muscles in that area feel like they wanna lock up.. :( well I did get out the office in to the fresh air I suppose. Screw that, that's not gonna happen again for a while, mind you not gonna be needing to go to that site again for a while at least. Well until they move the portacabin we have all the gear in..
Hmm now simple job todo really: Move Monitor, DVR, adsl modem, the phone line and power for a camera and the coax for it as well.. Simple enough well hmm
1st I find out that instead of being a secondary socket which I can take off the wall, replace with a junction box and move the socket else where it wasn't It was a master socket and well in this country you ain't allowed to touch one side of it, you can wire into it as it's got a connector block in a part that can be taken off to allow for this. The route we had roughly planned out to take the phone cable (for which I used Cat 5e - well it's up to spec enough) couldn't find a way to get the cable that way, ended up having to take it the long route around a solid wooden fence.
2nd Typical of a now EX-employee there was cabling everywhere, nothing marked up on nothing so I had no idea what was what, thankfully nothing was really needed so I could disconnect it all.. Which took time..
3rd I though there was like normal a power switch at the bottom of the camara pole as I need to supply power to it to allow me to move it.. was there erm... NO! had to put a join in that well I wasn't happy about but it's done
4th Again thought there would be a join the coax cable at the bottom no had to make one myself, I then had to feed those two cables through a piece of flexible conduit to hide it as much as possible..
I then had to take all 3 cable: phone, power and coax to the portacabin and in, had to take the cable up on to one portacabin, across to another and then finally on to the one where the equip was going, tidy it all up cable ties every so often, some stuck to side of the cabins, going around the cabins avoiding the mains power from the generator as much as possible..
I then have to find a way of putting the cable through the wall of the metal cabin, found a space thankfully. I was then about to connect it up and well it was break time for the guys on site. We got part of the site canteen to put our stuff.
We wait, finish tidying up stuff, packing stuff we don't need and stuff that's going back in the van.
Finally able to get it, hook up the phone, test it. Thankfully it worked, otherwise me would have been well I won't swear but you can imaging my words.
Then got the system set back up again, it fires up, camera movable, remote connection up, remote movable :).. Done, dusted, tidy up and go home
I arrive on site: 10:30 am
I Leave the site: 4:30 pm
I finish work at: 4:00 pm
Thus I came home, having not eaten a thing since 9am when i had a rather nice roll on sausage.. No Coffee, no Tea, no nothing.. Im amazed I was still able to operate at 3:30-4pm. Hmm need to appologies to colleage who was with me and who finishs at 7pm was a bit short / rude by that end.. But I was totally fucked..
Anything said about it tomorrow will get THAT LQQK..

ARGH! Oh well I think a few small bottles of something nice should clear that up..

Wednesday, August 31, 2005

Hope your all safe.

Hmm having read a few items on "Kathyrne" or whoever the ho-ha you spell it. All I can say is ouch and thank my lucky stars we don't get anything remotely like that here.
I just hope all the bloggers in the area are ok.
Now if only i had about 10,000 Tonnes of premix and a few days Im sure I could fix a few holes in the dykes "protecting" New Orleons.. Hmm I guess it was built by the Dutch to remind them of home, never did understand the netherlands people.

Peace

I've survived

Okay I've survived, 1st day back for a while but it's like I've never been away. I mean that at work nothing has changed, the same problems are still there, but we've been busy with other things and it's all waiting on other people to get us numbers or do as we've asked. It was a nice quiet relaxing day. It was a nice pleasent day outside as well with only a little rain, warm but not too warm, just right which is a rarity. I think that's all i need to say about today.

I shall not be moved!

No, you can't make me! I shall not be moved from this computer. I'm not going back to work I'm on holiday.
Sadly that's all totally untrue! It's back to work for this scury dog tomorrow and oh boy is it gonna be a fun week, I don't think so! Need to be up in 8hrs exactly to waken up, get my work stuff read and drive to work for 7am once more, mind you finishing at 4pm (an there is NO way in HELL!!!! I'm working past that unless there is no way I can't avoid it) I know what i just said is a contridictional statement of fact or something like that but it's true.
Posting back to "sporadically sporadic", comment back to "spotty at best" etc, etc.

Happy Blog Birthday

Well its hard to believe but only a year ago Adventures of a Domestic Engineer came into the blog world. We saw the first posts and saw promise, I got there a little late but I read all the posts from the first one to where it was at that point. The trials and tribulations have kept us amused & entertained as well as no doubt anger, mad and every emotion you can imagine. Why? well sharon spoke from the heart and we found out that took courage to do, but we've all grown to love her for who she is, we know that we might never find out the whole truth, that we only get a glimse into her life that somethings are kept private and well I for one respect that, mind you that's how i was brought up to respect other people. We've all been virtually in the room when she's been at the meetings, beside her in the hospital praying she pulled through, maybe sheding a few tears at the "firsts" that have happened. To Bing, Chatterbox and Leo, your mom, is 1 in a million and Im sure you know that, her love for you and everyone about her flows from her heart. So from this side of the Pond all the way to West Virginia, heres a big hug going out to you sharon :). As to what's to come in the following year, who knows, we shall have to see. Personally I can't wait. Hmm one of the reasons I moved my Diary from where it was to here was I seen how easy it was to use thanks to a few people. Moogie thanks for the intro, to Nurse Melonie and Laura :) you 2 take care of sharon for me since Im not there :)
I'm gonna sign off now before otherwise my vision is going go blurry..

A trip to the zoo

Well we went to the world famous Edinburgh Zoo, why is it famous well for sheer size of it's penguin enclosure and of course it's famous once a day penguin perade :). One thing that was missing was the giraffe's but according to "the masterplan" they will be back as soon as new suitable enclosure has been built since one of the died of old age and the other is now in a zoo in denmark. They have everything but don't try and leave kids they've stopped taken them :P One thing we were too early for was the arrival of the koala bears, the enclosure was in it's final stages and next week will see the arrival of them. One highlight of the day was that there were a troop of Norweign soliders there, the reason to give a penguin a long service medal and a promotion. *hears people going eh! and / or fainting* Okay you can adopt an animal practically anyone and they adopted many years ago one of the penguins so with full military tradition it got it's promotion we only heard the cermemony as we were in another part of the zoo at the time but it would have been fun.
See anytime anyone *god forbid they come over to visit me - why visit me!* is in east of scotland, I know and have shown a few places to visit there are more but I'm so used to them I need reminding sometimes.

An a Mazing Day afternoon.

Well the sun might not have been shining much but it was a fun day out with the nephew and my sister once more. We went to Cairnie Fruit Farm & Mega Maze it was fun we got lost for about an hour in the maze, well not so much lost as navigating our way around finding various flags poles with clues along the way, as the maze was laid out like Nelson's Flagship and we had to "sail" around getting the various clues in order to solve the 2 puzzles. The first puzzle was realitivly simple match the flag up the flag pole to it's pair on the list that was there, each picture on the list had a letter, you wrote that letter in the square provide. The second part was a little tricker it was in semaphore but we had a semaphore decoder on the sheet we got handed to write it down on. The first once solved gave the name of the ship we were to avoid and the second gave us the name of the captain of the ship it was fun. Now your thinking it's a maze what makes it special apart from it's shape well if I tell you that the "walls" were made out of corn plated to represent the shape. Oh and the maze changes year on year so next year it will be something different. There is also a play area next to the maze with pedel go-carts and trampolines and other things to keep the kids amused. Now if your really don't want to do any of that it is possible to go there and simply pick all kinds of fresh fruit (you pay for what you pick, but you pick it - pre picked is available but obviously it cost more) you can pick strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrents, redcurrents, gooseberries and something i've never tried but I think it's a cross between a raspberry and a blackcurrent, tayberries. Oh and I can recommend the strawberries *yum*

the day trip out.

Thanks to sharon for reminding me inadvertantly about posting this. Well since I'm on holiday and the younger of my two sisters had some how managed to book the same 2 weeks off work we decided to take my nephew to a local steam railway and train museum. The train you see pictured is the very one they use. It was fun, it was also momentous in that both my sisters and I went together, now I'm 30 and put it this way we ain't went out like this in my lifetime. Anyway the museum itself is over a nice footbridge over the railway line and my oldest sister has a little bit of trouble with bridges so I took my nephew over armed with a camera, I'll try and see if I can't get some pics up online at some point, it was fun they had a set of points all set up with sets of lights that you could change to the various modes and it didn't let you change the points until both were red, was really good. They had trains from yesteryear there it's was a really good afternoon out. We went back over the bridge and we could hear the steam train as we walked back to the ticket office, of course by this time my nephew was hungry so we had something to eat and then boarded the train for the journey upto an abandoned clay mine which we didn't go and visit all my nephew wanted to do was watch the train as it moved back past the coach we were in to the other end of the train for the journey back. You could feel the power of the train as it pulled I mean Really feel it. Of course no trip out was without some shopping getting done which we did before hand of course where we went had to be next to a train station didn't it. My nephew was going to wait for the next train which would have been about 25 minutes as I thought we'd just missed one but as per normal we got lucky and it was running a little late, so we got pictures of it and he still wanted to wait, cheeky little scamp that he is. I managed to persude him otherwise, we would have been left and my 2 sisters would have gone home (hey they would have you know). All in all it was a good day apart from when my older sister insisted we had to be back home for 4 so she'd be in when my brother-in-law would be home. I was in the back of the car beside my nephew so I didn't see the wringing of hand and the glaring between traffic and the watch. Gotta love sisters sometimes eh!

A fiesty Tribute.

Okay since Christina has gone back to reality or so it would seem, I had an idea

No more blog noir......sigh.
Posted by sadie at August 9, 2005 04:25 PM

Now given that Christina was also the one coming up those great titles - like the Blog Western I got in my links. I though why not have a blog noir tribute to christina, I'm stuck for a subject matter but I was thinking of covering all of the previously covered blogger short stories in one seriously big thing over a few more chapters, that lets some people get a few more twists and turns in. I'll even have a go although I doubt my efforts will be close to Moogie, WitNit,Velocigod or even Zonker to name a few, but I will try so tell me what you think, tell you if you wanna write a chapter. It's an idea a lasting tribute to the Fiesty One.

Strength and Honor.

Holy Grail Eh!?!

Saw this over at Sharon's blog and couldn't resist. Darn it

Take the quiz: "Which Holy Grail Character Are You?"

Sir Bedevere

Well, now, uh, Launcelot, Galahad, and I, uh, wait until nightfall, and then leap out of the rabbit, taking the French, uh, by surprise. Not only by surprise, but totally unarmed!

Time to show me where you all are

Okay I've seen this on a few blogs now and thought it was about time I got one of my own :) So feel free to post a pin on my guestmap. It's not the best res but it will do for now :)

I'm seeing things please tell me I'm seeing things, The Fiesty One is giving up the blog, leaving the blogsphere.
*Faints!*

A Musical Treat Possibly

Okay after much, much deliberation and thought I decided to post something of mine I recorded on my keyboard, the recording isn't brilliant done as it was on a homemade cable between my keyboard and pc and otherthings. I just pray this works

Prelude in C

It's a biggish file 1.17mb in size, so I quickly made a popup page for it. :)

Re: Holiday

Hmm Laura sounds like a good plan, but for one or two small problems.

  1. I don't got a passport

  2. I don't got the cash to pay for one

  3. Nor the cash for the tickets

  4. The visa I'd need to get into the US

  5. The cash for hotel etc..

I'm sure there are more I'd love to but hmm I have honestly never been outside the UK ever. Rarely out of scotland and on those occasions it was normally to stay with relatives for a holiday away from home. Have had a few trips to London, most recent was about 2 yrs ago when I visited my best mate down there as well as a friend who'd come over from Indi for a visit. There are pictures of that visit somewhere online. I'll ask my friend where they are. Oh and read back my blog for what happened my last 2 holidays. Last one I was renovating the attic so I could put PC's up here out the way, and the one before that well I'll let you read about that one Here. Hmm not one I wanna remember at all. Entries pre about Dec last year are from my old Dear Diary site and as they were on there if it confuses you Melonie / Laura.

Woo hoo

Only a few more day till I'm on holiday for 2 whole weeks - that's 2 weeks away from work, not going anywhere but I'm pretty sure there is stuff to be done and the like..
Yes I know this is a late post or is that early depends on your point of view lol..
Well darn it blame my mate for getting me hooked on stuff like World of Warcraft.

How Do You Live Your Life?

Spotted this one on Moogie's Blog and was curious as always and well it pretty much sums me up...

How You Life Your Life

You seem to be straight forward, but you keep a lot inside.

You're laid back and chill, but sometimes you care too much about what others think.

You tend to have one best friend you hang with, as opposed to many aquaintences.

You tend to dream big, but you worry that your dreams aren't attainable.

Darn I'm hooked

Anyone ever played a game that they couldn't stop playing or read a book that they couldn't put down till they'd finished.. Been like that with the harry potter novels, I have all 3 games (don't ask I lead a very sheltered life - maybe). My good friend was over and he's been going on about this new game he's been playing for like a few months now and he's going on and on about it and said last weekend that he'd bring it over to show me.. Well gosh darn it if he didn't go a carry out his threat promise, now Im hooked on it, he let me create a char on a realm and get used to it.. darn was nice so he bought the game for me and now I have an account and I'm resisting as much as possible to play it as little as possible. My holidays start a week today for 2 weeks we I need them!!!

Melonie

Well someone wanna head over to Melonie's blog and tell me my bug fixes worked please.. I see them fine here but I need someone to say yes they worked..
I know it has just humor me - darn well fixed it good and proper this time..
Don't ask how I just have let's just say it involves a bit of Style Manipulation and a smack in the head bug fix for IE (stupid thing wouldn't read Stylesheet I put in correctly!

Thursday, July 28, 2005

Dear Melonie

Hi Melonie, I found your blogger template and found out the people who are hosting can't fix it nor can those fine people at blogger-help or whatever site it was just google bambou blog template and it's the 1st one.
Well looking at the fixes they suggest I went a scanning and hunting.. looked very closely at image. When I say close I mean I could make out individual pixels, found the margins to use, fixed them all - works sweet and the content all behaves within the confines of the areas they are meant to (or so the Theory goes).

If you want me to add in the links / coding you've put in, e-mail me the code or where I can find it so I can add it as adding it from the "blog" has "strange!!!" results and I mean that with a capital STRANGE!
Anyway I better go now as I've got to be up in under 6hrs.. me forget time flys when having fun...

A Challange.

Hmm here is one for you!
Try and figure me out. I'm serious here - I can't figure me out so come on give me a hand here, that was the whole point of me starting this blog / the DD pages before it was to have a written record of me and my musings to help me figure me out..
Why else would I describe myself the way I do..
"A Chinese puzzle in an enigma - best way to describe me.. Off the wall in many many ways..."

Oh and I thought instead of guess blogging pen pals maybe just a side thought..
See good looks run in the family (well kinda)

Gee Wiz

Hmm given the comment from Melonie I think I'll withhold letting him blog for a while.. Unless I want him eaten alive so to speak.. your right he's cute and cuddly and has a way of getting his own way.. Mind you I sure many bloggers out there could handle him easy.. Eh Sharon, Melonie, Moogie, Fiesty, Dax too, maybe even Zonker might manage, as I'm sure Eric and da V-man would handle him no bother.
Hmm why do I suddenly think of the Film Lilo and Stitch..
where Experement 626 aka Stitch say "... I'm also cute and fluffy..." or the like.. Your getting my point.. Oh he's needs aren't much really, Plenty to do, kids "food".. you know.. Hmm well hmm I think I've posted enough useless information for one post.

Sunday, July 24, 2005

A Thought..

Hmm well during a conversation I had with the lovely Melonie she gave me an idea well not so much an idea as a thought.. A Fan club for my 7yr old nephew.. Well he's cute..

See Told you he's a cutie - like I can be ;) Well what I though given something I saw via Christina's Blog at For A Breath was letting you kid/kids do a guest apperence on your or like amelie allowed a guest blog by her blog sibling.. You get the idea don't you.. hmm the pic is the latest school photo of my nephew Connor otherwise known as Trouble and a few other names... Anyways just a thought Must dash I have to be up at 5:30am but I thought I need to put this idea into my blog before I erm what was I saying oh yeah forget.. Hmm I'd need to ask my sister's permission if I wanted him to guest on my blog, she's the boss mind you she managed a not bad job a bring me up so my nephew is in good hands.. It's a long story and maybe some other time I tell you it or some of it.. Hmm or would that let you too close into the workings of my mind..

Midweek Madness

Well it's wednesday and I've read all of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.. No I'm not going into what happens, other people will do that for me, I'm going to make you READ the book if you want to..
I'm mad not because of what happens in the book although it is good, has a nice twist or 3 in it..
I'm mad because I've realised what a nightmare wiring job I've just given myself to do.. Now it started off simple enough, take a few wires from a unit's output relay wire it's common pin to +5 volts so that when a certain condition is met the relay activates and the other connection I have off that relay is connected to common and connect a LED + reistor to 0v so that the relay activates the LED switchs on.. Now repeat that for say 14 units, that is 28 wires.. No that's not much really until you realise each is about 10m long. I'm not finished I though why not set it so that if a unit is okay the LED glows green and if not it glows red.. okay 1 more wire, now I need to be able to commnunicate back to that unit via a Push button input it has, 1 more wire, it has audio abilities so there is 3 more wires (but they can be common to each unit) only the unit who's button is pressed will work ;)... so that's 3 wires +
3-5 x 14 => 45 - 73 wires coming back now that's a NIGHTMARE... HELP!! before I crack up...
This needs done and dusted.. Also I have to build to button console as well, interface it with a few more things and the whole thing will work as it should..
ACK - what wire is this.. blue/green what unit is it again.. Unit 7 no unit 3 no unit 14 ah yeah it is or is it!!!

It's Good

Hmm it's Good so far, quite a few twists in it already. Not going to say anything just yet.. Read the book is all I'm going to say...

It's Almost Time....

It's almost time, it's almost here less than 2 hours to go till it goes on sale in the UK. I've got mine reserved. I'll pick it up tomorrow at some point.
Now hopefully your not wondering what I'm talking about if you are you must have been living under a rock somewhere for the past 2 years. I am of course talking about the Latest Harry Potter Novel.. A few lucky lucky people even get to meet JK Rowling as she reads from the latest book at midnight in Edinburgh Castle. It will be fun. I can't wait I only have to do one thing once I get it, keep it hidden from my cousin who is up with her husband and dog for a week. It's my oldest sister and brother-in-laws Silver Wedding Anniversary party tommorrow Oh boy this is gonna be fun. I don't think I'll stay for long, partys ain't my thing and I'll be tired catching up on sleep from the past week Unless I catch up on most of it tonight and get up about midday, I don't think I'll get away with that somehow.

A week ago Today

Hmm This is a seprate Post because it needs to be..
It's a week since the Bombings in London, it seems longer
Suicide Bombers indeed, from what I've read and heard on the news the kids that blew themselves up were like you and I, well up to a point. They were hard working, were deep in the muslin faith but someone whispered in their ear a posionious tale that lead to this momement. I'd love to quote what the Driver of the bus that Blew up said but I can't remember exactly but it summed up what Britain stands for, what makes you who you are.. Last Thursday was a slap in the face, Not something you do to britain or a british city because we slap back only harder..
There was a 2 minute silence around the world at 12 Noon BST, observed most poinently in places where the bombers have hit, Bali, Madrid, New York..
Im proud to be Scottish, proud to be British, I don't judge you on your colour, your creed, your faith.. If you piss me off, it is something you've said or done not anything else.
God is watching, he's keeping score, he knows where everyone's going when they die
Allah is beside him, looking down and frowning, wondering what twisted muderous person is perverting his teachings, his teachings of peace.
To quote a film for a second:
"It is not about Anger, it is about Peace"
"It is not about knowing your enemy, it is about knowing yourself"
there is a third line that escapes me but you get the drift. Be a peace with yourself be at peace with those around you.. If you know yourself, you know your enemy too strange but true..
Shalom

Thursday (I think)

Hmm I think it's thursday, right now Im not sure as my brain has STOPPED working.. well so would yours if you'd been up since 5:30 in the am and it's now late..
In the past 100hrs or so, 50 of which have been a little too warm, I've worked 48 of them, gotten about 15hrs sleep I'd say since like sunday night. So you can imagine what im like.. Half dead but at least I'm cool again, the heat has gone for now.
I'm going to get some zzz's I may post tomorrow I don't know.
Actually I will.... I have to Saturday is Important

I'm Meltin'

I am too, sheesh it's been hot over here the past couple of days but thankfully the weather is apprently set to break and cool down by the end of the week.. Now imaging 20+ C (68+ F) outside no wind as such, me inside a room that is like 6ft by 12ft (approx probably a bit bigger attempting gauge sizes from drawings I have.. windows open, blinds closed and oh yeah 26 14" CRT monitor + 4 PC's + 44 Pieces of CCTV equipment to gather and record images all in that one space
1 floor fan blowing air about (well warm air).. and Me working 12hrs due to colleage being off on paternety leave for a week! I am able to escape for a while but no where is really any cooler room not really designed to allow air flow through it unfortunatly.

Its a Girl

That Headline got ya didn't it, thought I'd been keeping something quiet for 9 months eh no such luck! Me as a dad, heaven forbid - no I have no life as it is.

Well folks I just heard from my colleague at work we do a split shift so that there is a time when we are both in so one of us can do something like do alarm services and the like..
Well I've been waiting for this for a couple of weeks now.. His lovely wife had a beautiful baby girl called kayla (I'm sure she is, not seen a photo yet) this morning at 9:30am GMT and she weighs in at 7 pounds 8oz [3.4 kg]. Looks like I'll be working 12hr shift for at least the next week or possibly 2 to give him some time with his lovely baby daughter, not looking forward to the hours but then again it will be fun and it might just be worth it when I get paid for it.
More news when I get it..

Saturday, July 09, 2005

Hmm Saturday

Hmm what a nice day it's been, okay maybe not superb but then again I wouldn't be posting this right now if it was superb cos I'd still be at T in The Park, rocking away to who ever was on stage.. Hmm mind you never been to concert / gig / outdoor event type thing in my whole life so I don't really know what I'm missing just what I see on TV...
It's been Nice and sunny all day, bit too warm for me and my poor pc's
Got a nice book today on PHP, MySQL and Apache - looks really good, been meaning to find a book on all 3 really, thought I'd end up with 3 books, nope got it in 1..

I can't believe only 1 person left a comment on my last post... Even a comment to say what a load of Bull it was or something, I take critique on the chin you know.

Okay Back to doing what I was doing which is Chatting on Yahoo chat (yahoo.com) in Computers Lobby:1 why Yahoo.com and not Yahoo.co.uk, I suggest you go to yahoo.co.uk and see why it is erm well just too weird..

London Calling.......

I know what I said yesterday but somethings just have to be said..
No doubt many of you will have heard about the bombings in London, Many places have good live coverage of what is happening but I'd just like to make a small point
London my heart goes out to those who have been killed or injuried, their family and friends as well.
I want to make a small point, this is my own opnion but it counts.

  • This was Not Religously Motavated

  • This was Not Race Related Attack

  • This was a Cowardly Dispicable Act

A few points to be noted about London

  • In 1940-41 The Luftwaffe bombed London, tried and failed

  • The IRA has tried to several times and Failed

  • Building have been blown up but again Failure

Failed, Failure to do what.. To Kill the british spirit that one thing that binds all of us, no matter our montery status, our colour / creed or religion. Young men, woman, father, mother, sons, daughter have fought for this country in various parts of the world to make sure the British Spirit never dies, to make sure that the people we are fighting for and against know what we stand for.. Okay people have been killed, injuried but we will recover it will take time, but we will do this..

Heres how to beat the Terrorist
Go around to your neighbours, check they are ok
It doesn't matter if they are white and you aren't or vice versa.
If they are muslin and you are Christian.
Religion doesn't matter, colour doesn't matter
Go around make sure they are okay..
Do something you wouldn't do, go to church, a mosque, temple or other religious site better yet go to one that isn't of your religion, find out about the custom first, go listen, understand.
That is how to beat Terrorists, show a UNITED FRONT not a divided one..
UNITED in grief, UNITED in understanding..
Brother, Sister hear my words, hear my call, do not hate those who are different from you, know that they are different, understand them, many cultures, one race - this country is a diverse mix, Hate has no place in your heart - hate only those truly deserving of it.. Those who attempt to put fear in your heart through the use of the BOMB..
Do NOT Give in to it.. Fear cannot hold you if you don't let it hold you sway..

It's the weekend

Hmm well yesterday was a nice sunny day so I guess summer isn't quite over yet..
Hmm not actually done anything today well apart from send a letter by air mail.. I really should write to more people it's fun, just realised that. E-mail doesn't quite allow you the eliquincy that handwriting does, it can't really convey a feeling, emotion like a letter can, sure you can use different colors and bold or italic text but it's not the same as a letter. It comes close but not that close besides there is nothing better than coming downstairs of a morning, picking up the mail that's just arrived and seeing a letter from a friend.. Okay so it takes longer than an e-mail to get there, it's slower than calling them but then again overseas / long distance calls ain't cheap.. Hmm I think that's enough from me on this subject, as Moogie would say I'm going to hand it over to you for your thoughts on the matter.

I guess that summer done with..

Well that's it this part of the world has had summer, no seriously we've had our allocated number of really sunny days for this year already a whole 5.. I'm just kidding but well it's now back to rain, warm rain and it know it want's to thunder the air is that way, getting heavy, waiting for a break... then it's flash followed by the crack of the lightning as it accelerates the poor air molecules out the way..

Hmm Well it's still warm in my attic even with the skylight open. darn I need Air Con in here.. oh wait im in the UK what would I need Air for when I'd only use it for like a month in the year total. I guess I'll just stick to my desk fan in order to cool off, or I'll just have to keep my retro styled mini fridge fully stocked..
